Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation Welcomes New Executive Director

By:

Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation (FPACF) has announced that Amy Scheers has been named as the organization's new Executive Director. She will replace Kathryn Ballard, who has served in that position for the past eight years. Ballard will remain with the organization through the end of the year.

"I am very proud of what the FPACF has accomplished in the last eight years and I am happy to have been a part of it," says Ballard. "Amy is a great fit for the Foundation and its mission with her background in arts education and administration. I know that I am leaving the work in excellent and capable hands and have every expectation that the programs will grow and flourish."

Scheers brings over two decades of performing arts experience to FPACF. Most recently, Scheers was the Director of Program Design and Production at COCA - Center of Creative Arts, where she led the organization's efforts in successfully achieving two national arts accreditations. For the 10 years prior, she was COCA's Director of Dance where she oversaw the center's largest program, which serves more than 2,700 dance students within the 500 classes offered annually. Prior to her tenure at COCA, Scheers taught at Alexandra School of Ballet and was their company manager and ballet mistress. She began teaching in New Jersey In 1995, at Montgomery Dance Arts and assisted in the founding of the Belle Meade Ballet. Scheers has also choreographed for the Whitfield School's Theater Department and served as the executive coordinator for the St. Louis Mid-Sized Arts Cooperative.

"I am excited and honored to serve as Executive Director for the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation," says Scheers. "The programming of the Foundation offers a variety of unique opportunities for the young people in our region to experience and participate in live performances. Whether as a performer, as a member of the audience, or as a student learning from a theatre professional, I believe that engaging in live performance will have a positive, lasting impact on an individual. I look forward to leading the Foundation and continuing to expand these experiences within our community."

Scheers will oversee the four major programs of the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation, which include the annual St. Louis Teen Talent Competition, Kids' Night at The Fabulous Fox, Master Classes, and the St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards, which is a collaboration with The Fabulous Fox and The Muny.

Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization created in 2002 with the mission of fostering, promoting, and encouraging young people in the St. Louis region to discover and participate in the joy and wonder of live performances. The Foundation provides unique opportunities and develops educational performing arts programs focused on young artists. For more information, visit foxpacf.org.
