Don't let the title fool you...The Country Girl isn't a homespun theatre piece, but a biting, 1950's backstage drama with masterful characterization by Odets at his finest.

Georgie Elgin has suffered long years of devotion to actor husband, Frank. When Frank is offered what is needed to revive his career - a big role in an important new play, the play's brilliant director believes Georgie is the key to Frank's downfall...until a dynamic incident reveals the country girl's identity and exposes Frank's reality.

Directed by Michael Jokerst, The Country Girl features John Contini* and Erin Kelley* as Frank and Georgie Elgin, GP Hunsaker as Bernie Dodd, Whit Reichert* as Phil Cook, Casey Boland as Paul, Austin Pierce as Larry and Alexandra Woodruff as Nancy.

Performances are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm (April 22 - May 2. Ticket prices are $24 student (full-time) & senior (60+) and $28 general admission. Group rates are available. To purchase tickets, visit www.avalontheatre.org (no fees) or call 314-351-6482.
