In Always Strong, a young lute player named Tsunemasa returns to court after his death. While alive, he played heavenly and erotically charged music, but now he cannot find happiness. A monk brings a lute to the altar: Tsunemasa’s spirit touches the lute and then gradually disappears. Only the sound remains.
In the other work on the double bill, Feather mantle, a fisherman finds the feather coat of an angel. The angel wants it back, as it is impossible to return to heaven without it. The fisherman promises to return the coat if the angel will dance for him. Gradually, the angel disappears. Only the sound remains.
