The Watermelon Prince: The Musical is a world premiere Broadway-style musical based on a beloved Vietnamese legend about Mai An Tiêm, an adopted prince cast out to a barren island alongside his devoted wife, whose journey of exile becomes one of perseverance, love, and triumph of the human spirit. Directed and choreographed by two-time Emmy nominee Spencer Liff, with music by Emmy Award winner Doug Katsaros and book by Nicole Jones-Dion, the production blends Broadway theatrical traditions with Vietnamese cultural influences, performed by a live orchestra. Executive produced by Tony Award nominee Gabriel Barre, the show features original songs by an international roster of composers and is a benefit production with proceeds supporting local orphans and the elderly in Vietnam.
