With HOMETOWN, BamBam celebrates culture, collaboration, and creative growth in his most personal project yet
For over a decade, BamBam has stood at the crossroads of cultures. Born in Bangkok and inspired by K-pop from a young age, he has built a career defined by versatility and charm. With HOMETOWN, released on October 10, the GOT7 member turns his gaze inward. His first full album in Thai is a deeply personal return to the place that started it all, a letter to his roots told through music.
BamBam’s story began long before his global fame. Born Kunpimook Bhuwakul in 1997, he was raised by a mother who loved music and introduced him to Korean pop early on. Watching the singer Rain perform inspired him to pursue the stage himself. By age 10, BamBam was already dancing competitively and soon joined We Zaa Cool, a Thai dance crew that also included future BLACKPINK member Lisa.
He won the Thailand Rain Cover Dance Competition in 2007 and placed second in the LG Entertainer Competition in 2010. At the age of 13, he passed JYP Entertainment’s global audition in Bangkok and left home for Seoul, a decision that changed his life. After three years of rigorous training, he debuted in 2014 with GOT7, a seven-member K-pop boy group that quickly rose to international success.

With GOT7, BamBam became one of the first Thai artists to reach consistent mainstream fame across Asia and the West. The group’s hits like “Just Right” and “You Are” showcased both his precision as a dancer and his charisma as a performer. His trilingual fluency in Thai, Korean, and English, helped GOT7 connect with audiences across Asia and beyond, making him a strong ambassador for Thai representation in the K-pop world.
When GOT7’s members parted ways with JYP Entertainment in 2021, BamBam embarked on his solo path with confidence. His debut EP Ribbon introduced his distinctive tone as a vocalist and songwriter, while Sour & Sweet (2023) expanded his artistic identity beyond K-pop, mixing R&B, pop, and introspective lyrics. His world tour, Area 52, sold out across Asia including more than 50,000 tickets in Thailand alone, a clear reflection of his lasting influence at home.
Now, with HOMETOWN, BamBam returns to where that story began. The album’s five tracks, which he helped write and compose, reflect both his growth and his gratitude. Collaborations with TIMETHAI, Jeff Satur, and INK WARUNTORN highlight Thailand’s new generation of pop talent, while Pharrell Williams’ production on the track, “Angel in Disguise,” bridges global sound with local heart.

The decision to create an album entirely in Thai was intentional. BamBam described it as an invitation for international fans to connect with his language and culture. In doing so, he reverses the direction of his career’s journey: instead of leaving Thailand for the world, he brings the world to Thailand.
The pre-release track “Dancing By Myself” featuring TIMETHAI set the tone for HOMETOWN with its sleek production and confident energy. The song’s sophisticated beats and polished rhythm highlight BamBam’s modern take on Thai pop, blending danceable grooves with smooth vocal delivery. Its cinematic music video unfolds in a penthouse sky lounge overlooking the glittering Bangkok skyline, echoing the city’s vibrancy at night. BamBam, dressed in a sharp black suit, begins dancing along before being joined by backup dancers and TIMETHAI, who also appears in a contrasting white suit. Their synchronized choreography and shared stage presence highlight balance and collaboration over solitude. The video captures BamBam’s artistry and poise, offering fans a bold first glimpse into the sound and vision of his return home.

“Wondering” blends smooth pop and R&B influences with a mid-tempo beat that feels both polished and emotional. The production balances clean percussion with soft synth layers, giving the track an atmospheric pull without overpowering the vocals. BamBam’s delivery carries a sense of restraint, his voice is clear but aching, especially during the chorus when he repeats the line “wondering where you are.” The song’s rhythm moves steadily, mirroring the restless feeling of missing someone you can’t reach, while the layered harmonies add depth to its loneliness.
The music video for “Wondering” expands on that feeling of distance and longing. BamBam is seen following Thai actress and model “Nychaa” Nuttanicha Dungwattanawanich through familiar Thai settings that blend natural beauty with urban warmth. Each location feels tied to memory and are all places that carry a quiet trace of home. His pursuit of her unfolds slowly, more emotional than dramatic, and results in the pair sharing several intimate kiss scenes that have become a major talking point among fans. Their on-screen connection deepens the song’s message, turning “Wondering” into a story about love and the memories that refuse to fade.
