EARLY SPRING, LATE WINTER Comes to Daloreum Theater in South Korea This Month

This is an omnibus-style dance music theater piece that holds together diverse stories of life with a motif of "plum blossoms." Based on the play by Bae Sam-sik inspired by his experience with the flower, director Im Do-wan known for his lyrical yet assertive style attempted a distinct combination of movement, song, and speech.

The stories that constitute the piece are those of paintings at an exhibition, and by freely crossing the past and present, they draw the audience into a fantastical time and space somewhere in between winter and spring. Ancient tales related to plum blossoms including those from China and Korea are splendidly and humorously portrayed with their modern reinterpretations.

Performances are running through 24 November.
