South Bend Civic Theatre Announces STICKS & STONES 3/20-4/7
South Bend Civic Theatre will present STICKS AND BONES from March 30 to April 7 in the Studio Theatre, 403 N Main Street.
The cast includes Jason Clark, Charlie Florance, Melissa Gard, Paul Hanft, Richard Isacson, and Brad Mazick.
Written by David Rabe and directed by Scott Jackson, Sticks and Bones is a darkly humorous story of a “perfect” family dealing with the horrors of war’s aftermath when their eldest son returns home scarred physically and mentally. Winner of the Tony Award for its original production in 1971, the play continues to resonate as a scathing look at the cost of war on family.
About the show: "Ozzie and Harriet and their two sons appear to have the perfect life, the kind of family shown on classic TV sitcoms in 1968. But when eldest son David returns home from war, the cracks in their ideal home are exposed and sharp truths and painful realities force a new look at family. On the 40th anniversary of this groundbreaking and controversial play, SBCT presents a play that continues to resonate for American families confronting the specter of war brought to their doorstep."
There will be a special talkback session featuring the director and actors Opening Night March 30 following the performance.
Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm ($18), Sunday at 3:00 pm ($18), and Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 pm ($15). Tickets may be purchased at the box office at 574-234-1112 from 12-6 pm weekdays, or online at www.sbct.org.
