Civic Theatre brings everyone's favorite feline back for the seventh consecutive season in DR. SEUSS'S THE CAT IN THE HAT, February 25 - March 5, 2020. An inclusive performance is scheduled for Saturday, February 29 at 2:00 p.m.

From games and mischief to Thing One and Thing Two, The Cat brings all sorts of trouble to a grey day- but will Sally and her brother be able to explain the mess to Mother? This Dr. Seuss classic leaps onto the stage with chaotic exuberance in this adaptation from The National Theatre in London.

Through the support of the Kennedy Center and PNC Grow Up Great Foundation, Civic Theatre will provide 1,000 tickets of the professionally produced, weekday matinee to IPS students.

THE CAT IN THE HAT will coincide with Dr. Seuss' birthday, running parallel with traditional curriculum for pre-k, preschool, and young elementary students, and providing enhanced comprehension of the story through live theatre.

Civic will hold a Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash on Saturday, February 29, to celebrate in conjunction with that day's public performances. From 10:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m., families can join the fun with kid-friendly crafts and activities, and giveaways from community partners and service providers There will also be a chance to win tickets to Jr. Civic's production of FROZEN JR. this June. Birthday Bash partners include, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, Carmel Clay Public Library, Carmel Parks & Recreation, Cunningham Restaurant Group, the Little Village Playroom, and the Ice at Center Green. No Label at the Table Food Company will provide allergen-free and gluten-free samples, and Cat in the Hat themed cookies will be available for sale from Carmel-based Lindy's Cookies.

Considerations for accessibility during the inclusive performance include, social stories, flexible ADA-compliant seating options, designated quiet areas in the theatre, and a total show length under one-hour, without intermission.

Civic presented Indiana's first live performance adjusted for individuals with sensory issues on March 1, 2014. Since then, Civic has provided inclusive performances of THE CAT IN THE HAT as part of its regular season. Civic presented its first mainstage inclusive performance in December 2017, with JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, and continues to offer inclusive performances for most Mainstage productions.
