Ralphie May To Perform At Orpheum Theater, 3/10

Stand-up comedian Ralphie May will perform at the Orpheum Theater for one night only on Mar. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Ralphie's special brand of comedy combines the familiar elements of hip-hop and topical comedy with a touch of down-home flavor and quick wit, making him one of the most popular comedians in the country.

eginning February 18, the Sioux Empire Comminty Theatre will present The Odd Couple, by Neil Simon. The show is arguably the funniest comedy of all time. The play opens at the messy apartment of divorced Oscar Madison with his poker buddies arriving to play cards. (No wonder his wife left him.) Last to arrive is Felix Unger who has recently separated from his wife and almost suicidal about it. When the two men decide to move in together the volatile mix of ultimate slob and super neatnik leads to chaos for them, but hysterical laugh-out-loud comedy for us.
Vendor Applications For Sidewalk Arts Festival Now Open

Vendor applications are now available for this year's Sidewalk Arts Festival. All local artists, crafters, non-profit groups and food vendors are encouraged to apply for Washington Pavilion's largest annual fundraiser, which will take place on Saturday, September 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lary Etten Named as Artistic Director of Empire Community Theatre

Lary Etten has accepted the position of Artistic Director for Sioux Empire Community Theatre. Lary is both a Founding Member of SECT and past President of the Board, he also recently directed our main stage productions of The Miracle Worker, Sound of Music and Chicago. Lary has always done a ton of work behind the scenes.

Begnning October 29, the Sioux Empire Community Theatre will present The Miracle Worker, by William Gibson, which tells the dramatic true story of Annie Sullivan and her student, blind, deaf, and mute Helen Keller. Trapped in a secret, silent world, unable to communicate only Annie realizes that there is a human mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from her dark well of silence. With scenes of intense physical and emotional confrontation, mixed with surprising moments of humor, Annie's success with Helen culminates in one of the most memorable scenes in Broadway history.

Fastidious, depressed and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind when the clean-freak and the slob ultimately decide to room together with hilarious results as The Odd Couple is born.
