Rehearsals began March 16 at Kansas City Repertory Theatre for the world premiere production of Venice, an explosive new musical written by Rep artistic director Eric Rosen and Matt Sax, creators of the hit hip hop musical Clay. Rosen will direct; choreography is by John Carrafa (Urinetown, Into the Woods) and Tanisha Scott (video choreography for Sean Paul, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé). MCC Theater will present Alexi Kaye Campbell's The Pride, under the direction of Joe Mantello (Glengarry GLen Ross, Take Me Out) in a limited engagement at the Lucille Lortel Theatre from January 27 through March 20. Opening Night is February 16. The show's stars, Hugh Dancy (Adam, Journey's End), Andrea Riseborough (Happy Go Lucky), Ben Whishaw (Bright Star, Brideshead Revisited), and Adam James(Last Chance Harvey) met the press yesterday as they gear up for the start of productions in a few weeks. Recent Gypsy Robe honoree, BYE BYE BIRDIEs' Paula Leggett Chase passed the special Broadway garment on to John Jellison backstage before the opening night performance and BroadwayWorld.com was there to cheer him on!

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) presents the world premiere ofAlexander Dinelaris' Still Life, directed by Will Frears. The cast features Dominic Chianese, Halley Feiffer, Ian Kahn, Adriane Lenox, Kelly McAndrew, Sarah Paulson,Matthew Rauch and Frederick Weller. Performances began at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on September 16 and continue through November 1, 2009. Opening night was celebrated, Monday, October 5th at 7:00 p.m. BroadwayWorld.com's cameras were there to capture all the opening night festivities.
