Vineyard Theatre's 2015-2016 season began Wednesday, November 11 at 8pm when the new musical comedy GIGANTIC began previews at The Acorn Theatre @ Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street), where it plays through December 20. GIGANTIC features a book by Randy Blair (PEREZ HILTON SAVES THE UNIVERSE, SPIDERMUSICAL) and Tim Drucker (PEREZ HILTON SAVES THE UNIVERSE, SPIDERMUSICAL), music by Matthew roi Berger (SPIDERMUSICAL), lyrics by Randy Blair, choreography by Chase Brock (SPIDER-MAN TURN OFF THE DARK) and will be directed by Scott Schwartz (BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL). Am Theater Luneburg erlebte der Cole Porter Klassiker KISS ME KATE nun als zweites Musical in dieser Spielzeit am vergangenen Samstag seine Premiere. Weitere Vorstellungen laufen noch vorerst noch bis April 2016. Die Kritiker zeigten sich auf ganzer Linie uberzeugt

Cole Porters Musical-Klassiker von 1948 strotzt nur so vor Evergreens: „Wunderbar!', „So In Love', „Viel zu heiß!' oder „Schlag nach bei Shakespeare' sind nur einige der fantastischen Songs, die Kiss Me, Kate unsterblich gemacht haben. Gleich nach der Urauffuhrung am Broadway gewann das Musical funf der begehrten Tony-Awards, unter anderem als bestes Musical des Jahres. Unter der Regie und der musikalischen Leitung der niederbayerischen Musical-Geheimwaffen Stefan Tilch und Basil H. E. Coleman verspricht KISS ME, KATE ein weiteres Highlight im Reigen der Landestheater-Musical-Produktionen zu werden. Die Premiere fand am vergangenen Freitag in Landshut statt, weitere Veranstaltungen finden sowohl hier aus als auch in Passau und Staubingen noch bis Februrar 2016 statt.

Cole Porters Musical KISS ME KATE gewann 1949, im Jahr nach der Urauffuhrung, allein funf Tony Awards. Mitreißender Swing, unvergessene Evergreens, quirlige Tanzszenen und spritzige Texte garantieren nach uber eintausend Broadway-Auffuhrungen bis heute den Erfolg. Zumal Porter im Ehepaar Spewack kongeniale Partner hatte, deren Textbuch mit einer großen Portion Ironie einen selbstkritischen Blick auf allerlei absurde Theaterklischees wirft. In dem Maße, wie sich Buhnenfiktion und reales Geschehen annahern, gewinnt das Stuck an Situationskomik und ist am Ende viel mehr als eine Liebesgeschichte. Das Staatstheater Kassel bring diesen Musicalklassiker in dieser Spielzeit im Opernhaus auf die Buhne. Die Premiere fand am vergangenen Samstag statt und wurde mit großem Beifall gefeiert. Und auch Kritiker zeigten sich angetan.

Cabrillo Music Theatre kicks off the 2015-2016 season with a brand-new production of the American Classic DAMN YANKEES. Winner of eleven Tony Awards including Best Musical, DAMN YANKEES is sure to be a home run hit. With a book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop, and music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, this ever-popular baseball musical will have fans on the edge of their seats. On Monday 8 June, there were major cast changes for MAMMA MIA! in London. Mazz Murray joined the cast as Tanya, Jo Napthine as Rosie, Gabriella Williams as Sophie Sheridan and James Darch as Sky. Also joining the cast from 8 June were Louise Young as Ali, Stephanie Fearon as Lisa, Dan Partridge as Pepper and Rory Phelan as Eddie. Dianne Pilkington continues to star as Donna Sheridan, with Richard Trinder as Sam, Alasdair Harvey as Harry and Charles Daish as Bill. John Gore and Broadway Across America saluted FINDING NEVERLAND director Diane Paulus yesterday (Thursday, April 23) with a lunch at the Lambs Club to celebrate her contributions to Broadway and the road, hot off the heels of this week's announcement of the Finding Neverland tour, beginning in October 2016.
