Bay Street Theater presents THE PROMPTER, the first production of the 2019 Mainstage Season, are now in rehearsal in New York City. The World Premiere will be May 28- June 16. Tovah Feldshuh (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Walking Dead, Golda's Balcony) and Wade Dooley (Jersey Boys) star in the show. San Francisco Opera presents the West Coast premiere of It's a Wonderful Life by composer Jake Heggie and librettist Gene Scheer in nine holiday-season performances from November 17 through December 9. The two-act work, a co-commission and co-production between San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, is based in part on Frank Capra's 1946 film It's a Wonderful Life and The Greatest Gift, a story by Philip Van Doren Stern.

Rehearsal images were today released for A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer, a co-production with Complicite Associates. The production is an all-singing, all-dancing examination of life with a cancer diagnosis. This brand new musical confronts the highs and lows of the scariest word we know. With book by Bryony Kimmings and Brian Lobel, music by Tom Parkinson and lyrics by Bryony Kimmings, and directed by Bryony Kimmings, the production receives its London premiere at the Dorfman Theatre on 14 October (press night on 19 October), following its world premiere at HOME Manchester (20-24 September) and a tour to Exeter Northcott Theatre (28 September-2 October).

Acclaimed Broadway, film and television star Tovah Feldshuh brought her acclaimed show Aging Is Optional at 54 Below last night and BroadwayWorld was there for the fun. On the New York stage, besides earning four Tony nominations for Best Actress, Ms. Feldshuh won four Drama Desk Awards, four Outer Critics Circle Awards, the Obie, the Theatre World Award, and the Lucille LortelAward for Best Actress in Golda's Balcony. On the West Coast she received San Diego's Theatre Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Performance in a Touring Show for Golda's Balcony as well as two Drama Logue awards for her Juliet and her first one woman show: Tovah: A Rush Hour Revue! Most recently, Tovah stopped the show as the trapeze-swinging Berthe in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Pippin. Last season, she played Lady Politic in the acclaimed revival of Ben Jonson's Volpone at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. As Jason Zinoman of The New York Times raved, 'No one earns more laughs than the marvelous Tovah Feldshuh.'
