Saturday, July 6, 2019 The tortuous true story of Mayerling was first set to music composed by Franz Liszt, by Kenneth MacMillan, in 1978; a giant Choreographer and Innovator in the world of Ballet. MacMillan's Mayerling is the forboding story of the 1889 Murder/Suicide of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth's Syphilitic and addicted son, Prince Rudolf, and his teenage lover, Mary Vetsera. The Royal Ballet, which has not performed in Los Angeles in 24 years, has stepped out on a limb to present this. This is not your usual Ballet Company fare. Contrary to the usual fluffy story about love conquers all, this is not that in the least. We find flawed and even demented characters pouring their hearts out, in the name of love and adoration.

Little Radical Theatrics (Fatima Viegas, Executive  Producer) is thrilled to be presenting its' first all youth musical, a 40th Anniversary production of the musical 'Runaways' by Elizabeth Swados.

Due to demand, The New Group has announced a second extension for Sam Shepard's Buried Child, now playing through April 3. Originally set to play through March 13, an extension through Sunday, March 27 was recently announced for this limited Off-Broadway engagement. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production features Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris,Amy Madigan, Larry Pine, Rich Sommer, Paul Sparks and Nat Wolff. The show just opened last night at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street) and BroadwayWorld was there. Check out photos below!

Theater Close-Up -- the unique collaboration between THIRTEEN and the large community of New York City area non-profit Off-Broadway theaters -- will present its first regional production, Nikkole Salter's Repairing a Nation, from Crossroads Theatre Company in New Brunswick, New Jersey, captured live on-stage, in THIRTEEN's signature 'up-close' style.

Tony Award-winner Judith Ivey, known for her critically acclaimed work in Long Wharf Theatre's productions of The Glass Menagerie and Shirley Valentine, stars in Curse of the Starving Class, by Sam Shepard, directed by Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein. ANNIE, the new production of the Tony Award-winning musical, went into rehearsal today in New York City with its full company. The production begins previews October 3, 2012 and opens November 8, 2012 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). Meet the full cast below!

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for the San Diego Premiere of God of Carnage, written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. The Tony Award-winning comedy is directed by Richard Seer and will run July 27 - Sept. 2 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run July 27 - Aug. 1.
