A re-imagined version of the 1921 musical SHUFFLE ALONG one of the earliest stage hits starring, written and directed by African-Americans, will open this week on Broadway. Working alongside such Tony-winning Broadway legends as Savion Glover, Audra McDonald, Billy Porter and Brian Stokes Mitchell are young performers making their debut on the Great White Way. The Music Box Theatre box office (239 West 45th Street) opened earlier this week for tickets to Shuffle Along Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, a new production that presents both the 1921 musical itself, and additionally details the events that catalyzed the songwriting team of Noble Sissle andEubie Blake, and librettists F.E. The world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will begin preview performances tomorrow, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). The new musical will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman.
