Theater for the New City has announced that due to popular demand they will be presenting Tony nominated theatre luminary Austin Pendleton's adaptation of Richard III, Shakespeare's greatest villain, WARS OF THE ROSES: HENRY VI & RICHARD III for three nights only December 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Tony nominated theatre luminary Austin Pendleton directs and adapts a new stage version of Richard III, Shakespeare's greatest villain, in WARS OF THE ROSES: HENRY VI & RICHARD III, which begins performances August 1st at the 124 Bank Street Theatre. The play combines texts from William Shakespeare's Henry VI Part 3 and Richard III, to create a version, which has never been seen before. Produced by Ruth Stage, the production stars Pendleton as Henry VI and Matt de Rogatis as Richard III, while giving a fascinating take on one of history's most notorious villains. The opening is set for Saturday, August 4th at 7PM. WARS OF THE ROSES: HENRY VI & RICHARD III will play a limited engagement through August 19th. Midway through Arena Stage's 2017/18 season, Hold These Truths brings an untold story to the stage that represents the diversity of our country and examines what it means to be an American. Under the direction of Jessica Kubzansky, Hold These Truths runs February 23-April 8, 2018 in the Kogod Cradle.

Austin Pendleton will step into the role of Lebedev beginning Friday, October 26 in his production of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV at Classic Stage Company (135 East 13th Street) replacing veteran actor Louis Zorich, who has withdrawn due to a foot injury. Pendleton performed the role of Lebedev in a 1990 production at Yale Repertory. IVANOV, which stars Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance, and is directed by Pendleton, is currently in previews, prior to an official opening Sunday, November 4. The cast also features Glenn Fitzgerald, Annette Hunt, Stephanie Janssen, Roberta Maxwell, George Morfogen, James Patrick Nelson, Anthony Newfield, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Anne Troupe. IVANOV will play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 9.
