Nancy Redman Joins Director Austin Pendleton for EMERGENCY A LA CARTE at United Solo Festival, 10/15 & 11/17

Actress/writer/comedian NANCY REDMAN will once again join forces with director Austin Pendleton for the premiere of her one-woman show "EMERGENCY A La Carte," in which "a comedian dies and finds that death is her toughest audience." Two performances in the United Solo Theatre Festival, October 15 & November 17, both at 9 PM, at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd St.

The October and November performances mark Redman's third invitation to appear in the United Solo Theatre Festival. In 2010 she premiered her "CLUTTER: I'm Saving My Life and It's Killing Me," and was invited back for repeat performances the following year, garnering Austin Pendleton the 2010 Award for Best Director and Redman the 2011 Award for Best Comedian.

Writer/Performer Nancy Redman has rightfully earned a place in the top echelon of the nation's comedians. Verbally and physically dexterous - part Lucille Ball and part Groucho Marx - her performances are explosions of silly voices, crazy characters and sharp one-liners. The native New Yorker has been featured on numerous TV shows, including the Oprah Winfrey Show; is a two-time prize winner on America's Funniest People; and "warmed up" audiences for The Golden Girls, Designing Women, and other hit TV shows. Redman was a regular performer for years at NYC's Dangerfield's and the Laugh Factory, and in L.A. at the Laugh Factory and Comedy Store. On stage she has opened for Jackie Mason, Charo, Chubby Checker and Soupy Sales, who pronounced her simply "the funniest white woman in the world!" Her personal career highlight was entertaining troops in the nation of Bahrain at the time of the first Gulf War.

Director Austin Pendleton is a highly regarded actor/playwright/director, whose many accolades include an Obie for his direction of Classic Stage's Three Sisters and a 2007 Drama Desk award for A Renaissance Man of the American Theatre. He directed the Broadway production of The Little Foxes with Elizabeth Taylor, the world premieres of Say Goodnight, Gracie; The Runner Stumbles; and Toys in the Attic at the Pearl Theatre; and productions at Steppenwolf Theatre and Williamstown Theatre Festivazl, and was Artistic Director of The Circle Repertory Theatre in NY . As an actor, Pendleton has given standout performances in dozens of plays on and off-Broadway, and in the films Finding Nemo, A Beautiful Mind, Amistad, Guarding Tess, My Cousin Vinny, and many more. He is currently directing a production of Ivanov for Classic Stage Company.
