With its engaging and sentimental tale of “forbidden-love-that-could-of-been,” Robert James Walker’s 1992 best-selling novel, The Bridges of Madison County, was made into a 1995 successful movie of the same title starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. After the success of that motion picture, book writer Marsha Norman teamed up with composer Jason Robert Brown to create the 2014 Broadway musical.  Wichita audiences now have the opportunity to hear that luscious score performed once more.

One would assume that Mark Twain would have been amused that his 1884 novel condemning America's history of enslavement of Africans, 'Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,' has occasionally been condemned itself as racist literature for its realistic use of a certain slur.

First up in Encores! 2017 season is Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the Tony Award-winning musical based on Mark Twain's classic American novel. Big River will star Nicholas Barasch, Patrice Covington, Andrew Cristi, Wayne Duvall, Mike Evariste, Charlie Franklin, Annie Golden, Katherine A. Guy, Megan Masako Haley, Adrianna Hicks, Zachary Infante, Gizel Jimenez, Andrew Kruep, John-Michael Lyles, Cass Morgan, Tom Nelis, David Pittu, Tom Alan Robbins, Horace V. Rogers, Kyle Scatliffe, Christopher Sieber, and Lauren Worsham.

Aurora Theatre Company celebrated the remarkable life of its founding Artistic Director, Barbara Oliver, with the unveiling of the Barbara Oliver Bas Relief on Tuesday, October 28 in the Nell and Jules Dashow Wing at Aurora Theatre Company.

It is with great sadness that Aurora Theatre Company announces the passing of the company's founding Artistic Director Barbara Oliver due to complications from a recent stroke. Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 20 at her Berkeley home, surrounded by family.
