This is the American Stage directorial debut of producing artistic director Helen R. Murray and the first show in their 46th Season. The show also features performances in Yiddish and English, and musicians will take the stage with the cast to perform traditional folk music & dance.

A student production of Paula Vogel’s acclaimed, Tony-nominated play INDECENT, was abruptly canceled by the administration of a public arts high school in Duval County, Florida last week.   The Duval County Public Schools cited what it described as “adult sexual dialogue” in the play’s portrayal of a same-sex love story as the reason for the cancellation of the production at the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.

The Royal Society of Literature has unveiled plans for Dalloway Day 2021.  Every year on ‘a Wednesday in mid-June’, the society celebrates the work and legacy of Virginia Woolf. On Wednesday 16 June, their second virtual Dalloway Day will feature online panel discussions, a writing workshop, a podcast, and self-guided walking tours of Bloomsbury.

Tony Babino, performer Carol Ostrow and the Actors' Temple Board of Directors are celebrating their 101st year honoring the historic entertainers who have passed through their doors, with their annual gala YOU AIN'T HEARD NOTHIN' YET. Entertainers past and present will commemorate this mecca of modern Jewish culture, including Tony Babino, George Bettinger, Sir Frank London and Friends and special guest Star of the Yiddish Theatre, Joanne Borts. The gala takes place on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 6:30 pm in the Barbra Streisand and Milton Berle rooms of another hub of entertainment greats, the Friar's Club (57 East 55 Street, NYC). The American Theatre Wing announced today the recipients of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative Classroom Resource Grants. Grant requests of up to $100,000 were considered for K-12 public schools, with over 175 applications received, which requested nearly $6,000,000 in total.

The Takoma Ensemble, a classical string orchestra, will offer a concert exploring the theme of immigration Saturday, January 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 633 Sligo Ave., Silver Spring. The concert, co-sponsored by CASA, is entitled The Golden Door: Music Without Borders, and will be led by Artistic Director and Conductor Victoria Gau. The concert will feature several works by American immigrants, beginning with a solo performance by Billboard winner Lilo Gonzalez. Other selections include Divertimento for Strings by Bela Bartok, Hungarian immigrant to the United States, and the world premiere of Beside the Golden Door, by Kim and Kathryn Kluge (Kim is the son of immigrants). The  concert will include Within Her Arms, composed by Grammy nominee Anna Clyne, and Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, written by Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos, the most famous South American composer of all time. Spanish commentary will be provided by Lindolfo Carballo, of CASA, and English commentary will be provided by Gau, and the performance will be followed by a Q&A and reception. Cabaret is set in 1930s Berlin, just around the time the Nazi Party began rising to power in Germany. The Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage at the Kit Kat Klub nightly to tantalize the crowd, and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, the club, a metaphor for the threatening state of the late Weimar Germany begins to fall apart.

Closing Aurora Theatre Company's 19th season is the first professional American production of METAMORPHOSIS. Award-winning Bay Area director, performer, and playwright Mark Jackson returns to Aurora Theatre Company, where he helmed the company's acclaimed productions of Salome and Miss Julie, to put his own unique spin on this landmark work of existential literature.

In a major announcement expanding the landscape of Chicago's theater scene, Theater Producer Walter Stearns announced plans to open The Lincoln Park Theater, 1425 W. Fullerton Ave., in the fall of 2009.
