The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) today announced the selections for the 2011 Next Link Project, NYMF's primary writer service program. The Next Link Project empowers emerging musical theatre writing teams as both artists and entrepreneurs by providing the training and relationships needed to help them move their musicals from readings to fully-realized productions and to advance their careers by maximizing the exposure they receive in the Festival. Twelve of the Festival's full production slots are reserved for participants in The Next Link Project.

LeapFest is an annual event featuring five new plays with socio-political themes, presented as workshop productions in rotating repertory. In celebration of its 50 year anniversary, the critically-acclaimed Steppenwolf Theatre Company production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? will open on Broadway Saturday, October 13, 2012-exactly 50 years to the date after the play's original Broadway opening on Saturday, October 13, 1962. Directed by Pam MacKinnon, the Broadway production will feature the original Steppenwolf cast: ensemble members Tracy Letts and Amy Morton with Carrie Coon and Madison Dirks and will open at a Shubert Theatre TBA.

Q: How did you get started in acting?
A: I was one of those freakish kids who always knew that this was what I wanted to do. I remember being five and saying to a group of grown-ups that I wanted to be an actor and they all chortled as they looked at each other. Probably in horror. There was maybe a week I wanted to be a fireman.
