The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) will close out its Spring 2015 season with two literary events in June, featuring writers Judy Blume and Judd Apatow. On Wednesday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at Francis W. Parker School, CHF and the Chicago Tribune will welcome literary icon and number one New York Times bestselling author Judy Blume to talk about her new novel, In the Unlikely Event (June 2, 2015), with Chicago Tribune columnist Heidi Stevens. The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted Tuesday night (August 26) to present Honorary Awards to Jean-Claude Carrière, Hayao Miyazaki and Maureen O'Hara, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Harry Belafonte. All four awards will be presented at the Academy's 6th Annual Governors Awards on Saturday, November 8, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center.

Canadian Stage today announced details for INTERMISSION, a new event series that combines multiple art forms to create an immersive cultural experience. Taking place once a month from May to July 2014, the series builds on the success of the company's Berkeley Street Block Parties, which have included a 90s-themed dance party with special guest Jason Priestley and a post-show karaoke night with the cast of Venus in Fur. INTERMISSION continues Canadian Stage's tradition of animating the historic Berkeley Street Theatre (26 Berkeley Street) with a variety of performances including live music, contemporary art, tasty refreshments and interactive experiences.

The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) announced today that Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon, Dreamgirls, The Color Purple) will be honored with the prestigious Career Achievement Award at this year's Film Festival, taking place December 5-13. Glover will be on hand for the special tribute and presentation at the Atlantis Theater on the evening of Friday, December 6th. The announcement was made by BIFF Founder and Executive Director Leslie Vanderpool.
