A Glasgow-based am-dram group has made King's Theatre history as its production of Elf the Musical becomes the highest grossing amateur show to run at the venue. Robert deMaine, the former DSO principal cellist who has gone on to distinguished himself as one of the finest and most versatile instrumentalists of his generation, makes his Chamber Music Society of Detroit series debut with a solo recital on Saturday, September 16 at 8:00 PM.  The concert takes place at Seligman Performing Arts Center in Beverly Hills.  Joined by pianist Adam Neiman, Robert deMaine will perform works by Saint-Saëns, Cassadó and Rachmaninoff.  In addition, deMaine and Neiman – both composers – will each perform a solo work they have composed for their instrument.

As part of its NEW@Graham series, the Martha Graham Dance Company will host a conversation with critically acclaimed choreographer and filmmaker Pontus Lidberg. The evening will include a sneak peek at excerpts from his new film Written on Water,an impossible love story about a choreographer reigniting an encounter from the past. Dance comprises half of this unique narrative, which features Paris Opera Ballet's Aurelie Dupont in the leading role. The Graham dancers will also perform Lidberg's work Woodland, created for the Company in 2016.
