Starting fittingly on July Fourth weekend, Museum of the Moving Image will present The Essential John Ford, a tribute to the consummate American filmmaker. Ford made his reputation on westerns, but worked in many genres, creating films of depth, beauty, and ambiguity. From July 3 through August 2, the Museum will present 20 movies directed by Ford-all on film, with some restored archival prints-including his masterpieces Young Mr. Lincoln, My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

One of the most influential American novels of the 20th century and biggest bestsellers of all time,To Kill a Mockingbird was believed to be the first and only novel by Nelle Harper Lee (born April 28, 1926), until now. On July 14, HarperCollins will release Lee's earliest known work, Go Set a Watchman, featuring characters from her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, which was published 55 years ago (July 11, 1960).

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announces upcoming shows and series confirmed to date for the 2015-2016 season.  The Dr. Phillips Center's anchor season of Broadway Across America and the resident companies of the Orlando Ballet and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by new series and festivals including the Morgan Stanley Jazz at Dr. Phillips Center subscription series, a Flamenco festival and a Chefs at the Dr. Phillips Center series.

Actress Betsy Palmer, whose long film, stage and television career began back in 1951 in the early days of live television and who later found a new generation of fans in her role as Mrs. Vorhees in the cult film classic Friday the 13th, has died at the age of 88, it was announced today by her longtime manager Brad Lemack.

Following their intial production a few months ago - Beta Blockers, a show composed of vignettes that outlined the triumphs and pitfalls of modern day relationships both with oneself as well as others - Left of Left Center is presenting another show with just as many quirks hoping for another positive response from the community. Minnesota Orchestra President and CEO Kevin Smith announced today that the Minnesota Orchestra will perform two concerts in Cuba this weekend, May 15 and 16, becoming the first U.S. orchestra to give performances in Cuba since President Obama took steps to normalize relations between the countries in December 2014. At the invitation of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, Music Director Osmo Vänskä and the Orchestra will perform as part of Havana's International Cubadisco Festival. One of the two concerts they play will feature the Beethoven Choral Fantasy with the Cuban National Choir and Cuban pianist Frank Fernandez. The trip, which will also include community engagement activities, provides a modern-day link to the Minnesota Orchestra's storied travel history, which includes tours to Havana in both 1929 and 1930.

Elizabeth Wilson, famous for roles in the Broadway productions of THREEPENNY OPERA, YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU, and STICKS AND BONES (for which she won a Tony Award), died on Saturday in her home in New Haven, Connecticut. She was 94.

As BroadwayWorld reported this morning, stage, screen, and cabaret star Julie Wilson passed away yesterday, April 5, from complications from two recent stokes. She was 90 years old.
