He will celebrate his 72nd birthday and his new blues-rooted CD with a special performance at The Town Hall in New York City on Saturday, September 23 featuring the David Bromberg Big Band and special guest R&B singer Bettye LaVette.

Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will open their 22nd Anniversary season with SUGAR, the stage musical version of the classic Hollywood film "Some Like It Hot."  This is the first of four musicals chosen in a season celebrating musical stage adaptions of films.  The one-night-only concert will take place at Glendale's historic Alex Theatre on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 7:00 PM.

The story happens in Chicago in 1929 where the musicians Jerry (Nicolas Cabré) and Joe (Federico D'Elia) must escape from the city, forced by threats from the gangsters, and dare to embark on an unusual adventure to Miami with an Orchestra of young ladies where they meet the gorgeous Sugar Kane (Griselda Siciliani).

Music Theatre Wichita opens its 2017 Season, "Hollywood to Broadway: A Summer Festival of Musical Theatre" with the 2002 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, playing June 14-18 in the Century II Concert Hall in downtown Wichita, KS. The first of five locally produced Broadway-scale productions, Thoroughly Modern Millie launches the organization's 46th season, which is also the 30th season for producing artistic director Wayne Bryan.

The custom of celebrating fatherhood goes as far back as the Middle Ages. It wasn't until the 20th century that it was introduced here in the US where on June 19th, 1910 there was a local fete at a YMCA in Washington, DC.  Three years later a bill was put forth to Congress to recognize  the holiday but it wasn't until 1966 that President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers, designating the third Sunday in June as “Father's Day.”  Six years later, the day was made a permanent national holiday when President Richard Nixon  signed it into law in 1972. Today Father's Day is celebrated around the country with offspring taking the opportunity to thank dads for all that they have done!

Casting is announced today for Music Theatre Wichita 46th Season, 'Hollywood to Broadway,' featuring five lavish stage musicals inspired by films, including Thoroughly Modern Millie, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Hairspray, and the Kansas premieres of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Disney's Newsies.

The Juilliard School will confer honorary doctorates upon six luminaries during its 112th commencement ceremony on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center (Broadway at 65th Street, New York City).
