Second Thought Theatre closes its 2017 season of change with the world premiere of The Necessities by Dallas-based playwright and artist Blake Hackler. Joel Ferrell, Associate Artistic Director for the Dallas Theater Center, returns to direct after previously directing Othello and Gruesome Playground Injuries for the company.

The Trustees of the JMK Trust are delighted to announce today that the winner of the 20th anniversary James Menzies-Kitchin Young Director Award is Josh Roche. Chosen after the now-legendary JMK selection process from another record-breaking number of applicants, Josh will be directing My Name is Rachel Corrie, the celebrated piece of verbatim theatre created from the writings of Corrie herself and co-edited by the late Alan Rickman and Katherine Viner. His production will be staged in the autumn at the Young Vic, with performance dates announced soon. The runner up this year was Nathan Crossan-Smith with a proposal for a production of Debbie Tucker-Green's random and will receive a £2,000 award.

Peter Darney brings back his highly acclaimed and disturbingly honest 5 Guys Chillin' to King's Head Theatre. After an original run in 2005, the show has touched audiences at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, and the SoHo Playhouse in New York. The play challenges the uncomfortable implications that come with  the practice of ChemSex, the sexualised drug use largely spread among gay men. By interviewing real consumers and transposing their words verbatim, the playwright and director is effective and straight to the point.

Based on the French fairy tale of the same name by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST tells the story of a monstrous prince and a young woman who fall in love. Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will take place every Sunday from May 21 to June 18, 2017.

Opening tonight at 3-Legged Dog is the world premiere of 3/Fifths, conceived and written by James Scruggs, with direction and dramaturgy by Tamilla Woodard and Kareem Fahmy, and choreographed by Andre M. Zachery. 3/Fifths, an interactive romp through the minefields of racism in the US, turns 3LD Art and Technology Center into SupremacyLand, a dystopian theme park that puts white privilege on display.

The winners of the 2017 New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards will be announced Monday, May 8, 2017 at approximately 5:30pm. The selections will be made at the organization's 82nd annual voting meeting.

Artistic Director Conrad Lynch today announces the ensemble for the Theatre by the Lake's Summer Season - the first time the theatre has featured two-companies. The 26th annual Dance for Life Chicago will exemplify Chicago's versatile and virtuoso dance community with the eight companies that are performing August 19 at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University. Chicago Dancers United (CDU), which mobilizes Chicago's dance community by raising funds through dance, presents this annual benefit performance, which is preceded by a gala reception at the Hilton Chicago.

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director, Tim Sanford; Managing Director, Leslie Marcus) has announced that the score for their World Premiere production of the musical IOWA has been preserved as an Original Cast Recording, produced by Michael Croiter (Matilda, The Visit, Big Fish) and Todd Almond. IOWA is written by Jenny Schwartz (God's Ear, Somewhere Fun) with music by Todd Almond (Girlfriend) and lyrics by Ms. Schwartz and Mr. Almond.

Director Thomas Ostermeier's critically lauded Schaubuhne production of AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE by Henrik Ibsen will be presented on Broadway in the 2017-2018 season at a theater to be announced. The acclaimed version by Florian Borchmeyer & Thomas Ostermeier will have a new English adaptation by MacArthur 'Genius' Fellow Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.

MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), closes its 75th anniversary season with Victor Herbert's Babes in Toyland on April 27, 2017 at 7pm at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall (57th Street and 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019). Celebrating the Grammy Award-winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus' 25th anniversary, Silent Voices is a fully-staged multimedia, multi-composer work conceived, commissioned, produced, and performed by the chorus.
