The March lineup at Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, kicks off with local soulful songwriter, Ron Artis II & The Truth, the Waikiki Edition of Revive the Live and Austin favorite Sharon Bourbonnais. Comedy is king when local funnyman Andy Bumatai graces the stage. Blue Note Hawaii welcomes back one of its favorite artists, jazz guitarist Earl Klugh, followed by groundbreaking Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi, joined on drums by the incomparable Simon Phillips (TOTO, The Who, Judas Priest) and the legendary Blood, Sweat & Tears. Other fantastic shows include a Tribute to Chuck Mangione with Mike Lewis and Friends, Tak Matsumoto with Daniel Ho, Willie K, the Hotclub of Hulaville in an evening of Gypsy Jazz with a Tribute to Django Reinhardt, the Steve Kimock Band, and the 25th Anniversary of the original Hawaiian Style Band.

Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, continues its 2016/17 season with The Scene, written by Theresa Rebeck and directed by Kimberly Senior.

The Jurkowitz Center for Community Engagement is pleased to present For Greater Glory, the next installment of the "Movies That Matter with Hal Conklin" Film Series, on Monday, March 6, 2017 at The Granada Theatre. Set in Mexico during the Cristeros War, For Greater Glory tells the inspiring and tragic story of when the Mexican government tried unsuccessfully, but brutally, to rid the country of the influence of the Catholic Church. Part of The Granada Theatre's ongoing community engagement initiatives, this "Movie That Matters" will screen in partnership with Padres Creando Sueños (Parents Creating Dreams) and feature a pre-screening audience Q&A discussion with series curator Hal Conklin and organization representatives.

4th Wall Theatre Company launches its inaugural play reading festival, 4th Wall Reads:  Women's Voices.  Running March 2nd - March 12th at STUDIO 101, the festival showcases five exceptional female playwrights, including Pulitzer Prize finalist and renowned playwright Theresa Rebeck who is headlining the event.  The five plays, which are new to Houston audiences and range from insightful comedies to hard-hitting dramas, will be read twice over the 10-day festival with each reading to be followed by moderated talk-backs.  All general admission tickets are Pay What You Can, with a limited number of reserved seats available for advance purchase.

The brilliant theatricality of Kneehigh, the innovative United Kingdom-based theater company, will be on display at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts once again when 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips has its Los Angeles premiere.  Based on the beloved book by War Horse author Michael Morpurgo, 946 explores everything we thought we knew about the D-Day landings in this tender musical tale of love and war. Adapted by Morpurgo and Emma Rice, who also directs, 946 is a Kneehigh production presented in association with Birmingham Repertory and Berkeley Repertory Theatres. Performances begin February 9 with the opening on February 10.

The Granada Theatre Concert Series is pleased to present An Evening with David Cassidy on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 7:00pm. Fans can look forward to a nostalgic rock and roll performance, featuring hit singles and fan favorites from over 40 years of performing live. NBC continues its NFL Playoff coverage this Sunday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m. ET with an AFC Divisional Round matchup, when Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers (AFC North, 12-5) visit Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs (AFC West, 12-4) at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.  The Granada Theatre's "And The Band Played On" Film Series continues on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 with a screening of Shine a Light, a Rolling Stones concert documentary directed by legendary filmmaker and Stones fan, Martin Scorsese. Filmed during their 2006 Beacon Theatre performances and featuring archived footage, music clips and interviews, this rock and roll masterpiece comes to life like never before on The Granada Theatre's state-of-the-art digital cinema system. 

Jerry Seinfeld fans can catch the legendary comedian as he returns to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for four nights of his critically-acclaimed stand-up comedy on June 17-18 and Sept. 8-9, 2017.

The Jurkowitz Center for Community Engagement is pleased to partner with the Consulate of Mexico in Oxnard to present a screening of El Bracero del Año, the third film in the "Cine en Domingo" Film Series, on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 3:00 pm at The Granada Theatre. The film's theme surrounds the migration of Mexicans to the United States in search of the "American Dream." This theme will also be the focus of a pre-screening discussion and Q&A dialogue with Civic Leader Monique Limon, local media personality Andy Valdez and special guest Jonathan Elias Alverez-Alzua,  the Consul for Community Affairs for the Consulate. This pre-screening conversation will be conducted in Spanish.

The Granada Theatre Film Series continues this December with two globally iconic films screened on the theater's 4k digital cinema system. Part of the Elmer Bernstein Memorial Film Series, and based on the Tennessee Williams play of the same name, Summer and Smoke will screen on Monday, December 5, 2016. The And The Band Played On Film Series follows on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 with the screening of Zucchero: Una Rosa Blanca, a powerful film documenting one of the largest and most popular music-concert performances in Cuban history.
