Beth Leavel & More to Join American Showstoppers in Honoring Cole Porter

AMERICAN SHOWSTOPPERS - featuring Fred Barton & His Orchestra and starring a cast of today's best Broadway performers - will present "An Evening with Cole Porter" at Pace University's Schimmel Center in New York on Friday, March 4 at 7:30 PM and then Kingsborough Community College's Goldstein Center in Brooklyn on Saturday, March 5 at 8:00 PM.  The cast of outstanding Broadway performers includes Beth Leavel (Tony Award winner for The Drowsy Chaperone), Sean McGibbon, Paula Leggett Chase, Damon Kirsche, Karen Murphy and Jesse Luttrell in addition to the Scott Thompson Dancers. The show is produced, orchestrated, conducted and hosted by Fred Barton with direction and choreography by Scott Thompson.

On November 30 at 8:00, Theater for the New City will present a tribute to director/actor Norman Glick (1946-2015) and the book launch of Ronald Tavel's last book, 'Andy Warhol's Ridiculous Screenplays' (which has a forward by Marc Siegel). The evening will include video of noted performances of Tavel plays and a medley of 'Gorilla Queen' and other Theater of the Ridiculous tunes by Norman Marshall. The evening will be hosted by Chris Kapp, who was the long-time director of 'Coffeehouse Chronicles' at La Mama.

Nimbus Dance Works to Host 2015 Gala in October

Last year the School of Nimbus Dance Works gave over $30,000 in scholarship funds to Jersey City youth, to ensure access to high quality dance training, regardless of financial situation. Nimbus' youth programs broaden young peoples' horizons and enrich the community with world-class arts. While remaining true to the company's community mission, up to now, scholarship money has come from the company's general operating budget. The 2015 Gala raises funds to offset the expense of the scholarship program, ensuring that this program, and Nimbus Dance Works are sustainable for the long term benefit of Jersey City.
