Megan McGinnis is heading back to the New York stage, starring alongside Paul Alexander Nolan in John Caird and Paul Gordon's musical adaptation of DADDY LONG LEGS. Based on the 1912 novel by Jean Webster, DADDY LONG LEGS tells the extraordinary tale of Jerusha Abbott (McGinnis), the oldest orphan in the John Grier Home. One day, a rich, anonymous benefactor (Nolan) decides to send her to college, but she must write him a letter once a month. Unaware of his identity, she invents a nickname for him: Daddy Long Legs. Through her brilliant and witty letters, Jerusha shares her experiences of college while discovering her own identity and reveling in the wonders of literature, adventure and love. But one key fact eludes her - who is Daddy Long Legs? McGinnis returns to the role after leading the premiere at the Rubicon Theatre Company in 2009, and subsequent productions around the country. She received the 2010 Los Angeles Ovation Award, an Indy Award (West Coast) and the Acclaim Award (Cincinnati), for her role in the musical. Now as she prepares to return to the role years after creating it, she is checking in with BroadwayWorld to chat about the upcoming production. Check out the full interview below!

Producers Ken Davenport and Michael Jackowitz have announced that the new musical DADDY LONG LEGS will open this fall at the Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street). Based on the 1912 novel by Jean Webster, DADDY LONG LEGS features music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Paul Gordon (Sense and Sensibility), book by Tony Award and Olivier Award winner John Caird (Les Miserables), direction by John Caird, and will star Megan McGinnis (Broadway's Les Miserables, Side Show, Little Women). The Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by AT&T, today announced its feature film selections in the Spotlight, Midnight, and Special Screening sections as well as work in progress screenings. The 14th edition of the Festival will take place from April 15 to April 26 in New York City.

On February 23 and 24, 2015, the pilot episode of composer Lisa Bielawa's serial opera Vireo: The Spiritual Biography of a Witch's Accuser will be videotaped at The Yost Theater in Santa Ana (307 North Spurgeon St.). As a result of one man's interest and dedication to the proper telling of actress Laurette Taylor's magnificent story, New York is now fortunate enough to own a piece of the treasure that is Steven Carl MccCasland's What Was Lost. Written and directed by McCasland and hereby added to the list of successful and praise-worthy Beautiful Soup Theater productions, which include a recent production of Liliom and the critically acclaimed Little Wars, What Was Lost is a complete surprise to both those familiar with the story of stage actress Laurette Taylor, and to those who have yet to understand the fortitude one woman can possess in the depths of her nearly shattered heart. It is truly one of my best experiences at the Dorothy Strelsin Theater.

On October 23rd I was met with an interesting opportunity for an evening of entertainment. I actually had to make a choice. Sit back and watch game 1 of the World Series or hop in a car and make the drive to Concord, New Hampshire to see a one woman show entitled, Unsinkable Women: Stories & Songs from the Titanic. I chose the latter and was not disappointed.

Vaslav Nijinsky was heralded as the greatest male ballet dancer of the early 20th century. He deftly performed gravity defying leaps, leading many to assume he used wires, and could even dance en pointe, which was a rare skill for male ballet dancers at the time. He famously choreographed L'APRÈS-MIDI D'UN FAUNE, which had a salaciously explicit ending for the contemporary audiences of 1912, JEUX, a flirtatious dance which he intended to be danced by three men but was changed to be danced by one man and two women, and the legendarily infamous 1913 LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS (THE RITE OF SPRING), which ended with the graphic sacrifice of a female virgin and caused fights to break out between the audience as some loathed and others championed his totally new style of ballet. Vaslav Nijinsky's life was rich with juicy backstage romantic affairs, and he also suffered from mental illness, which became so extreme that he was forced to retire from the dance world and spent the remainder of his life in and out of psychiatric hospitals. All of this is addressed in the 1998 one-man show NIJINSKY'S LAST DANCE, written by Norman Allen, which is enjoying a Houston premiere production by Edge Theatre Company.

Hailed as one of the greatest musicals of all time, My Fair Lady (September 6 through October 6) is the perfect grand finale to the STAGES ST. LOUIS record-breaking 27thseason. This romantic fancy radiates a charm and sophistication unlike any other musical and reigns as an American masterpiece. Lerner and Loewe's score couldn't be closer to pure perfection, with memorable show-stoppers such as 'I Could Have Danced All Night,' 'On the Street Where You Live,' and 'Get Me to the Church on Time.' You'll 'grow accustomed' to this 'loverly' classic as 'your heart takes flight.'

This fairly innocuous take on a classic tale is likely to be a hit with audiences seeking a fun night out.
