?In one of D.C.'s social events of the year, the Kennedy Center pays tribute to America's immortal Motown hit-maker, the late singer Marvin Gaye, at the 2016 Kennedy Center Spring Gala on Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The evening's program celebrates Gaye's enigmatic and innovative contributions to the Motown sound during the peak of his career in the 1970s and 1980s, and his musical influence that spans generations. Hosted by actress, comedian, and television host Whoopi Goldberg, the gala performance is headlined by multi-Grammy Award-winning artist Michael Buble, and features a talented, all-star cast including Andra Day, Ledisi, and Jussie Smollett, star of the FOX hit show, Empire.

While watching a revival production of Lionel Bart's 'Oliver!' in London, LES MISERABLES Co-creator Alain Boublil saw the similarities between literature's favorite little street urchins Oliver Twist, from Charles Dicken's novel of the same name, and Gavroche, from Victor Hugo's LES MISERABLES, which sparked the idea to cowrite the novel-to-stage adaptation of the latter with Claude-Michel Schonberg more than 30 years ago.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Broadway and television actress Linda Lavin for two very special concerts on the historic stage this past week. The show, wryly entitled 'My First Farewell Concert,' is Lavin's personal story told in songs she loves. She performed favorites from the Great American/Brazilian/Yiddish Songbooks, with Billy Stritch at the piano, Steve Bakunas on drums, Ron Affif on guitar, Tom Hubbard on bass, and special guest Aaron Weinstein on violin. Songs included were 'You've Got Possibilities,' 'No More Blues,' and a medley of songs recorded by the late, great Bobby Short. Scroll down for photos from the concert!

The Irish Repertory Theatre (Charlotte Moore, Artistic Director and Ciaran O'Reilly, Producing Director) presents its first production of 2016, THE BURIAL AT THEBES written by Irish Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney, based on Sophocles' Antigone.  Directed by Charlotte Moore, THE BURIAL AT THEBES will now star two-time Emmy Award-winner and Tony nominee Larry Bryggman (Proof, Picnic, "As the World Turns") as Creon, The King of Thebes (who replaces the previously announced John Cullum), and Rebekah Brockman (seen as Nettie on the acclaimed Cinemax series "The Knick") as Antigone.  THE BURIAL AT THEBES will be performed Thursday, January 14 - Sunday, March 6, 2016. Playwrights Horizons presents the New York premiere of 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist Marjorie Prime, a new play by Jordan Harrison (Maple and Vine, Doris to Darlene at PH; Amazons and Their Men; Kid-Simple; 'Orange is the New Black'). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons and directed by Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman (Detroit, Maple and Vine, Your Mother's Copy of the Kama Sutra at PH; Belleville; This Wide Night; The Thugs), the play is the third production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season. The production opens tonight, December 14, at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street), and will play a limited engagement through Sunday, January 3.
