For the first time, the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre (DWYT), Canada's oldest Yiddish-language theatre, is teaming up with the vibrant, META Award-winning Cote Saint-Luc Dramatic Society to produce the Yiddish World premiere of THE PRODUCERS: A New Mel Brooks Musical. The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to present this hilarious, record-breaking musical in Yiddish with English and French supertitles on the Segal stage through July 10, 2016.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston will bring the bright lights of 1920's New York City to the stage with the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Thoroughly Modern Mille from July 7-17, 2016.  Millie will run for eight performances at the Robinson Theatre (617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452).  Directed by Broadway veteran Cynthia Thole (Me and My Girl), Millie will star Gabrielle Carrubba (American Idol Season 11, Spring Awakening) as Millie Dillmount, a small-town girl who arrives in New York City to lead a thoroughly modern life. Millie will also feature Maryann Zschau (Nunsense National Tour) reprising her IRNE Award-winning role as Mrs. Meers (Reagle Music Theater 2006) and IRNE nominee Mark Linehan (Shrek The Musical, South Pacific) as Trevor Graydon.  This lavish musical is filled with fabulous flappers, eccentric New Yorkers and soaring musical numbers including "Forget About the Boy" and "Only In New York."

That is the premise behind the Jazz Age-inspired production of Moliere's TARTUFFE running at Rollins College's Annie Russell Theatre through November 21st. Directed by John Christopher Jones, a veteran of 15 Broadway shows, including the 1990 revival of Moliere's THE MISER, the production makes great use of a uniformly delightful cast to create a whimsical evening of classic theatrical farce, even if it they never seem to get the most out of the more than 350-year-old text.

For Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner Alan Menken - his musical based on the book and film The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz is what he calls 'a passion project, definitely.' Menken's version of Duddy Kravitz as a musical, which he co-wrote with David Spencer, was originally produced in the 1980's in Philadelphia. 'We did it in Philadelphia and we had a provision in the contract where we had to have a first class production (which Philadelphian wasn't) in order for the rights to merge, and when that didn't happen nobody could do (license) this musical…' Menken told me from inside the Segal Centre in Montreal while on break from rehearsals.
