UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will present a developmental reading of the hit 1945 musical comedy Are You With It? on December 12 at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts' Bruno Walter Auditorium. Based on the novel Slightly Perfect by George Malcolm-Smith, the musical has a book by Emmy Award winners George Balzer & Sam Perrin ('The Jack Benny Program'), music by Academy Award nominee Harry Revel (Paris in Spring) and lyrics by Arnold B. Horwitt (Make Mine Manhattan, Plain and Fancy). UMC artistic director Ben West (Caesar's Wife, The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad) directs the reading.

Happy Birthday, Graciela Daniele! As a performer, Daniele made her Broadway debut in What Makes Sammy Run? in 1964. She studied with Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham while working with such luminaries as Bob Fosse, Agnes de Mille, and Michael Bennett, who hired her to assist him with Follies in 1971. Her first credit as a full-fledged choreographer was the 1979 revival of The Most Happy Fella. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, including, most recently, The Glorious Ones (2007) and Dessa Rose (2005) at the Off-Broadway Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Michael John LaChiusa Off-Broadway, most recently Bernarda Alba (2006) and Little Fish (2003).

UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC) will launch its fifth anniversary celebration with a new Off-Broadway production of the 1950 musical revue Bless You All! with sketches by Emmy Award winner Arnold Auerbach ('The Phil Silvers Show,' Call Me Mister) and a score by acclaimed songwriter Harold Rome (Fanny, Destry Rides Again). Directed by UMC artistic director Ben West (The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad), the limited three-week engagement will run today, Sep 19 - Oct 5 at The Connelly Theatre (220 East 4th Street), officially opening September 22.

Stephen Sondheim and Wynton Marsalis will collaborate on A BED AND A CHAIR: A New York Love Affair, a new musical event featuring Sondheim's music arranged and performed by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. This Encores! Special Event, directed by frequent Sondheim collaborator John Doyle, with choreography by Parker Esse and musical supervision by David Loud, was conceived by Peter Gethers, Jack Viertel and John Doyle, and will run for seven performances, November 13 - 17 at City Center.

The MacDowell Colony will award composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim with its 54th Edward MacDowell Medal today, August 11. The MacDowell Colony, the nation's first artist residency program, has awarded the medal annually since 1960 to an individual artist who has made an outstanding contribution to his or her field. This year marks the first time a luminary has been chosen from the realm of musical theatre and Sondheim's generous offering of his talents to the stage made him a clear choice.

Bang on a Can's radical marching band Asphalt Orchestrareturns to Lincoln Center Out of Doors to give the world premiere of Asphalt Orchestra Plays the Pixies: Surfer Rosa, commissioned by Lincoln Center and honoring the groundbreaking album's 25th anniversary, tonight, July 28, 2013 at 6:30pm at Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park Bandshell. Parade sets by Asphalt Orchestra and Jacob Garchik's The Heavens start at 6 pm on Josie Robertson Plaza and Hearst Plaza. The program also includes performances by the Kronos Quartet with special guests Dan Deacon and Jherek Bischoff, as part of a weeklong celebration, KRONOS at 40, co-curated by Lincoln Center and Kronos Quartet.
