Due to early ticket demand, Victory Gardens Theater adds an additional week of performances to the run of Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman, directed by Artistic Director Chay Yew. Death and the Maiden now runs June 13 - July 20, 2014, with the press performance on June 20, 2014, at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

The New York Botanical Garden announces its major 2015 exhibition, Frida Kahlo's Garden, focusing on the iconic artist's engagement with nature in her native country of Mexico. Opening on May 16, 2015, and remaining on view through November 1, 2015, the exhibition will be the first solo presentation of Kahlo's work in New York City in more than 25 years, and the first exhibition to focus exclusively on Kahlo's intense interest in the botanical world.

The weekend before Easter is going to be jam-packed with fun and amazing theatre as Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT) presents It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown and Stephen Schwartz's Godspell Jr. April 10 -13. The Easter Beagle runs Saturday, April 12 @ 11 & 3:00 and Godspell Jr. runs Thursday, April 10 at 7:00, Friday, April 11 at 7:00 and Saturday, April 12 at 7:00. There will be a special double feature matinee Sunday at 3:00 pm of both shows. Tickets are $10 per person and $8.00 for seniors and active military for individual performances, and $15 for Sunday's double feature matinee. All shows take place at Columbia Children's Theatre on the second floor of Richland Mall, 3400 Forest Drive in beautiful Forest Acres. Now that spring has arrived, the temperatures are rising, and the first buds have started to open, it is time to get outside. Many may not realize that one of the best places to find nature—and one with historical significance—can be found in the heart of Louisville. Frederick Law Olmsted was America's first landscape designer. He was renowned for his work on Central Park, the U.S. Capitol grounds, and Biltmore Estate grounds, but his greatest achievement was his concept of systems of parks connected by tree-lined parkways. In 1891, Olmsted was commissioned by the city of Louisville to create such a system of parks. When completed, it joined previous multi-park designs for Buffalo, Boston, and Milwaukee, though Louisville would be the last of his career.

Jeffrey Ash, a prominent theatrical advertising executive who helped revolutionize Broadway advertising with the first live-action television spot for 'Pippin' and who later became a successful producer for Broadway, off-Broadway, and London's West End, died suddenly August 8, 2011 at his home in Manhattan. He was 65 and for many years had suffered from inclusion body myositis, an autoimmune disorder.
