A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) will present The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, opening the A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season on August 117 at the Loeb Drama Center. Melissa Errico's 'Legrand Affair' was today confirmed for October 18th release on Ghostlight Records. 'Legrand Affair' is a collection of songs written by Michel Legrand, performed by Errico with a 100-piece symphony orchestra in Brussels, and produced by Phil Ramone.

On Monday, May 2, 2011 The New York Pops' marks its 28th birthday with Celebrate Hope, a grand gala evening celebrating the legacy of late actor and comedian Bob Hope and honoring decades of support by Interpublic Group. The event begins at 7:00 PM with a concert at Carnegie Hall featuring a special lineup of concert artists - including Brooke Shields, Cheyenne Jackson, Christine Ebersole, Kelli O'Hara, Maurice Hines, Cartier Williams and special guest Angela Lansbury - under the baton of Music Director Steven Reineke. The New York Pops will also be joined on stage by the singers of The Camp Broadway Kids and the West Point Glee Club. Following the concert, a black tie dinner and dance will be held at the luxurious Plaza Hotel.

Where's Charley?, based on Brandon Thomas' Charley's Aunt, has a book by George Abbott and music and lyrics by Frank Loesser. The show, running March 17 - 20, will be directed by John Doyle and choreographed by Alex Sanchez with music direction by Rob Berman.

There was quite an electric, palpable excitement crackling in the huge 3,000-plus-seat Segerstrom Hall on this particular Sunday afternoon. The largest venue within the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, this stage is used to Broadway-caliber talent wowing its audience, since it usually plays host to a revolving door of touring companies performing popular stage musicals. It only seems fitting, then, that one of contemporary musical theater's biggest stars, IDINA MENZEL, would be welcomed wholeheartedly here. And, boy, was she ever.

Gee's Bend depicts the turbulent history of African-Americans in the 20th century by focusing on a single family in the real community of Gee's Bend, AL, which is now famous for the beautiful quilts created by the women that grew up there. A moving tale of three generations of African-American women living in this isolated Alabama town chronicles the courage and resiliency of their life's journey. Gee's Bend highlights the life of Sadie Pettway, from her teenage years to her 70s, and the other women in her quilting circle. Their experiences inspired them to create magnificent quilts that were miraculous works of art, and inspired this haunting play filled with Gospel music that has swept the country. Likewise, it will stir North Coast Rep audiences long after the lights have faded.
