Impetuous Theater Group Premieres AFTER DARWIN 5/7-5/24 At Access Theater

Impetuous Theater Group (John Hurley, Artistic Director) celebrates the bicentennial of Charles Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species with the New York premiere of After Darwin by Timberlake Wertenbaker (Tony Award-nominated Our Country's Good). The production runs May 7 through 24, 2009 at the Access Theater (380 Broadway) with a May 8, 2009 opening. (more...)

The Old Globe presents INHERIT THE WIND, directed by Adrian Noble. In the play, two powerhouse lawyers face off in a small town with the eyes of an entire nation upon them when a schoolteacher is arrested for teaching Charles Darwin's Theories of evolution. When the issue goes to trial, the two attorneys must passionately confront questions of faith and science in a heated courtroom. This fictional re-creation of the infamous Scopes Monkey Trial tackles issues that are every bit as relevant today as they were in 1925. Check out production photos below! (more...)

Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn's HOOD & More Will Premiere at Dallas Theatre Center in 2016-17

Dallas Theater Center Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty announced today the theater's 2016-2017 season including two world-premiere musicals titled Bella: An American Tall Tale by Kirsten Childs, the co-lyricist of FLY; and the world-premiere musical Hood, a fresh take on Robin Hood by Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn. Also included in the 2016-2017 season are two of The New York Times Best Theater picks of 2015, Constellations and The Christians; the classic historical drama, Inherit The Wind; a reimagined Greek tragedy, Electra; the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol; and an exciting new work with a title to be announced. DTC's 2016-2017 season includes productions in the Potter Rose Performance Hall and the Studio Theatre at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre in the AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Kalita Humphreys Theater on Turtle Creek. Rob Drummond (Bullet Catch, Quiz Show) is offering audiences the chance to tell their future grandchildren an incredible story about their bizarre first date, a tale of meeting at the Fringe but with a twist. Equal parts inspirational presentation and theatrical experiment, the production combines a live on-stage first date with evolutionary theory and scientific research in a celebration of love.
