Colony Theatre to Present DAMES AT SEA, Beginning 4/11

The Colony Theatre will present the sixth and final production of its 37th season of shows with the tap-dancing, musical sensation, DAMES AT SEA, book and lyrics by George Haimsohn & Robin Miller, music by Jim Wise , choreography by Lisa Hopkins, musical direction by Dean Mora and directed by Todd Nielsen. DAMES AT SEA will preview on Wednesday, April 11; Thursday, April 12; and Friday, April 13 at 8:00pm and will open on Saturday, April 14 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, May 13 at The Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street (at Cypress) adjacent to the Burbank Town Center.

One of Broadway's brightest stars, Bernadette Peters, will be the recipient of the Distinguished Dedication and Service to the American Musical Theater Award, presented by Westport Country Playhouse at the theater's '80th Birthday' gala, 'Playing Our Songs: Celebrating 80 Years of Musical Theater,' on the evening of Monday, September 19.

On April 11, 2011, Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre honored esteemed stage and screen actress Bernadette Peters with the company's second Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential contemporary musical theater writer and composer, was presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy. The 2011 Sondheim Award Gala was chaired by Ted and Mary Jo Shen; Honorary Hosts include Stephen Sondheim, Helen Henderson, His Excellency Gary Doer and Ms. Ginny Devine, The Honorable James Moran, His Excellency Giulio Terzi and Ms. Antonella Cinque, and The Honorable Jim Webb and Mrs. Webb. The Sondheim Award Gala helped to benefit Signature Theatre's numerous artistic, education, and community programs. Last year's recipient was stage, screen, and television icon Angela Lansbury. Broadway Across America (John Gore, Thomas B. McGrath, Beth Williams), Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Candy Spelling and The Weinstein Company will present the first-ever Broadway revival of PROMISES, PROMISES this spring at the Broadway Theater (1681 Broadway). Previews will begin on Sunday, March 28th, 2010 with an opening night slated for Sunday, April 25th, 2010. The musical is written by legends Neil Simon (book), Burt Bacharach (music), and Hal David (lyrics). Emmy Award winner Sean Hayes will make his Broadway debut starring in the role of Chuck Baxter opposite Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, returning to Broadway as Fran Kubelik. Tony and Emmy Award winner Rob Ashford will also make his Broadway directorial debut and choreograph. More casting and creative team members will be announced in the near future.

Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters is slated to appear on ABC's The View on Friday, February 19th. Peters (and her dog) will appear on the show's second annual Mutt Show to promote pet adoption, as well as discuss her second children's book titled 'Stella is a Star!'. Proceeds from the book will go to Broadway Barks, the organization she co-founded with Mary Tyler Moore that finds homes for shelter animals with the help of Broadway stars.
