Musical Theatre West's (MTW) Reiner Staged Reading Series (RRS) returns for its final season, with its premiere performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Pipe Dream, Sunday, September 17, 7pm at the Beverly O'Neill Theater, located at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.  Tickets are now on sale online at www.musical.org, by visiting the MTW West Ticket Office, or by calling (562) 856-1999, ext. 4.  Advance general admission tickets for each performance are $27.  Seating is general admission with early admission for season subscribers.  Season subscriptions for all five Reiner Staged Reading Series performances are available for $140.  This season's lineup includes Once Upon a Mattress (Sunday, November 17, 2017), Louisiana Purchase (Sunday, February 11, 2018), Do Re Mi (Sunday, June 3, 2018), and The Most Happy Fella (Sunday, August 19, 2018).

San Francisco Symphony (SFS) President Sakurako Fisher, on behalf of the Board of Governors, and Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, today announced the appointment of Mark C. Hanson as Executive Director of the San Francisco Symphony (SFS). Hanson will succeed Brent Assink, who stepped down from the position in March 2017 after 18 years as the Orchestra's chief administrator. Hanson will begin his new post September 1.

Local headliner Blue Man Group was featured in a special video presentation Wednesday, June 21 during the 2017 NHL Awards and NHL Expansion Draft presented by T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Corus Entertainment is set to take Canadians to a galaxy far, far away. Revealed moments ago during its 2017 Upfront presentation, Corus announced tonight a multi-year licensing agreement with The Walt Disney Studios for the broadcast rights to one of the most revered and astronomically successful movie franchises of all time – Star Wars. Beginning fall 2017, 11 films from the epic franchise, including original trilogy titles and yet-to-be-seen theatrical releases, will make their debuts on Corus' empire of conventional and specialty networks, including Global, Showcase, W Network, ABC Spark, YTV, Disney Channel, Disney XD, and more.

The 50-piece period instrument American Classical Orchestra opens its 33rd season with Berwald's Symphony Singulaire, Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 ('Italian'), and Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto in G minor, featuring as soloist 12-year-old piano prodigy Adrian Romoff.

'Composure' by Scott C. Sickles is a romantic drama set on a college campus about a star-crossed relationship whose past tragedies encroach upon their present.

The closing concert of the season on Thursday, May 11, at 8:00PM at Alice Tully Hall will be featuring two of Rossini's famous overtures, The Barber of Seville and William Tell; Clementi's Symphony No. 4; Paganini's 'La Campanella' from Concerto No. 2and Nardini's Violin Concerto in e minor with violinist Krista Bennion Feeney. Italian music of the Classical Era continued a long tradition of virtuosity in stringed instruments. By the beginning of the 19th century, Italian violins, violinist-composers and the violin repertoire had advanced to levels of flamboyance unrivaled anywhere else in Europe. Muzio Clementi's rarely heard symphony features virtuoso string passages unlike those of his contemporaries. Rossini's ebullient overtures complement the sentimental NardiniViolin Concerto in e minor and the fiery Paganini La Campanella.  This concert will be conducted by Thomas Crawford.

Choreographer Ivy Baldwin's latest work, Keen (Part 2), is a meditation on loss and ritual.
