Acclaimed director, actor, and teacher Thomas G. Waites is currently directing THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, being produced by the Baruch College of Performing Arts and the Thomas G. Waites Acting Studio. The production opened on July 10th and is schedule to run through August 3rd.
Waites took the time to chat with BroadwayWorld this week about the production. He also shared wisdom on his many years of experience in the business, as well as his career as a teacher.

Beginning today, July 16, the New Museum will present 'Here and Elsewhere,' the first museum-wide exhibition in New York City to feature contemporary art from and about the Arab world. The exhibition brings together forty-five artists from over twelve countries, many of whom live and work internationally. In keeping with the New Museum's dedication to showcasing the most engaging new art from around the globe, 'Here and Elsewhere' is the most recent in a series of exhibitions that have introduced urgent questions and new aesthetics to American audiences.

he Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the continuation of a summer tradition of showcasing great genre classics to beat the heat. Following the tradition of last summer's popular "Midnight Movies" series, each film in the new "Freaky Friday" series will kick off the weekend at 11pm and have the same weekly blend of mind-melting, gross-out horror as well as some rarely screened classic cult favorites in glorious 35mm, curated by Film Society programmer and Film Comment Editor Gavin Smith.

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will host 22 theatrical offerings from 20 different countries during WORLD STAGES: International Theater Festival 2014 that will run for three weeks March 10-30, 2014 throughout the Center. One of the most popular American operas, Susannah is the tale of an innocent Tennessee mountain girl who is accused of sinful behavior by the church-going elders of the town. Written in the 1950s the opera is surprisingly modern in its treatment of women's empowerment. Carlisle Floyd wrote this opera while a professor at Florida State University and our cast will feature a member of the original cast! Mr. Floyd will be in residence the week prior to the performances and events featuring him will be announced at a later date.
