BroadwayWorld has learned that MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL, the musical celebration of the life of the original 1970s 'Queen of Disco' Sylvester, has been nominated for five AUDELCO Awards, including Outstanding Musical Production of the Year.

The director and designers behind Rubicon Theatre Company's acclaimed environmental productions ofFiddler on the Roof and Man of La Mancha have reunited on the two-piano chamber version of the legendary Lerner and Loewe's classic My Fair Lady. Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, the musical tells the story of Professor Henry Higgins, an arrogant and attractive phonetician who makes a wager that he can transform a 'deliciously low' Cockney flower-seller (Eliza Doolittle) into an elegant lady by teaching her to speak more beautifully. The magnificent score includes 'I Could Have Danced All Night,' 'On the Street Where You Live,' 'Wouldn't It Be Loverly,' and 'I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face.' For Rubicon's production, Director James O'Neil returns to the source material to explore the Shavian themes of class struggle, social reform and women's rights.

THE MEETING* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, will return to JOE'S PUB at The Public Theater on Sunday, October 25 at 9:30 PM to continue the Fall 2015 Season. The October 2015 show will feature a celebration of the cult film PRACTICAL MAGIC for Halloween, with special guests to be announced. Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director.

La Jolla Playhouse announces additional projects for its second Without Walls (WoW) Festival today, October 9 - 11, featuring more than 20 immersive and site-based works taking place simultaneously in and around the Playhouse Theatre District, UC San Diego campus and the surrounding neighborhood.

Yale Repertory Theatre opens its 2015-16 season with the world premiere of INDECENT, a new play with music, written by Paula Vogel, created by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Rebecca Taichman, at the University Theatre (222 York Street), now through October 24. Opening Night is tonight, October 8. The world premiere of INDECENT is a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse, where it will play November 13-December 10.

'Folks, you ain't heard nothin' yet!' That is the iconic quote of the legendary Al Jolson, who was called 'The World's Greatest Entertainer' through the first half of the 20th century and was arguably the first American pop superstar. When Jolson's career was all but over in the mid-1940s, Columbia Pictures decided to film the story of his life, which became the 1947 classic, The Jolson Story (followed in 1949 by a successful sequel, Jolson Sings Again). The film not only became one of the most successful biopics in movie history, it revived Jolie's career and established him once again as an entertainment superstar.

When a book is titled 'When All Hell Breaks Loose,' it promises to be a good read. In his newest book, evangelist Richard Roberts, son of the well-known minister Oral Roberts, takes a look at what Christians can do to stand strong when trouble comes their way.

MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL, the hit musical celebration of the life and music of the original 1970s 'Queen of Disco,' Sylvester, returns to New York City for a special one-night-only performance at The Gramercy Theater (127 East 23rd Street) tonight, July 31st, 2015 at 8 PM.

La Jolla Playhouse opens its world premiere of Up Here, a new musical comedy featuring book, music and lyrics by the husband-and-wife composing team of Robert Lopez (The Book of Mormon, Avenue Q) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (In Transit), recipients of the 2014 Academy Award for Best Original Song for their hit song, 'Let It Go,' from the Disney animated film Frozen. Up Here is directed by Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Broadway's Rocky, Off-Broadway's Here Lies Love, Playhouse's Peter and the Starcatcher) and will run July 28 - September 6 in the Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre. Up Here is being presented by special arrangement with Scott Sanders Theatrical Productions, along with Victor Alvarez, Warner/Chappell Music, Sally Horchow International Productions, Caiola Productions, Dominion Pictures.

According to the United States Association of Fringe Festivals, the idea of a Fringe started in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1947. Since the beginning of that most-famous Fringe, other festivals have sprouted up all over the United States, from Philly to San Diego and places in between. The Association describes a Fringe as "Focused on the performing arts…uncensored…easy to participate in…original…rapid-fire." This July, Providence will have it's second-ever Fringe festival, produced by one of our local theatre companies, The Wilbury Group and its Artistic Director, Josh Short.
