Following an extremely successful debut season in 2013 to public and critical acclaim, Dance Theatre of San Francisco (DTSF) returns to the stage for a Fall program of world premieres by choreographers Mark Foehringer, Sandrine Cassini, Milissa Payne Bradley and Dexandro "D" Montalvo. DTSF taps into the Bay Area's wealth of top-notch established, emerging and independent dance-makers and focuses on the work of more than one choreographer, making it an unusual and compelling addition to one of the nation's most active and innovative dance centers. The company's fall program will feature the world premiere of Mark Foehringer's Daphnis and Chloe, set to music by Maurice Ravel, plus new work by Sandrine Cassini, Milissa Payne Bradley and Dexandro "D" Montalvo. Performances will be givenFriday and Saturday, October 24 and 25, at 8 pm and Sunday, October 26, at 7 pm at the newly transformed Cowell Theater in San Francisco. From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.

Three teams of new opera composers and librettists—John Liberatore and Niloufar Talebi, Jake Runestad and David Johnston, and Rene Orth and Jason Kim—will premiere new 20-minute operas, each based on a contemporary American story, in a semi-staged concert performance on November 21, 2014 in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater.

Luna Stage presents a special presentation of American Moor, written and performed by Keith Hamilton Cobb. In this 90 minute solo play, Mr. Cobb, best known for his starring roles on All My Children, The Young and the Restless and Andromeda, asks the questions 'What is the role of a lifetime?' and more importantly, 'What is the role of a life?' as he explores Shakespeare's Othello, race, and America... and not necessarily in that order. American Moor is directed by Paul Kwame Johnson.

Marina Carr's play Woman and Scarecrow is a perfect embodiment of the bittersweet humor and comical tragedy that pervades the plays of the Irish, much like PICT's production Waiting for Godot that closed June 21. Alan Stanford will direct this third play in PICT's season, which he selected "because of its delicate investigation of the one event in our lives that we all share. The leaving of it."
