Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) is pleased to announce the recipient of this year's Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award: M. Burke Walker. A freelance director in Manhattan since 1999, M. Burke Walker lived and worked in Seattle from 1966-1999. He was the Founding Artistic Director of the Empty Space Theatre which he led for twenty years. His regional directing credits include theaters throughout the United States; locally, in addition to the Empty Space Theater, he has worked with Seattle Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, ACT Theatre, Tacoma Actors Guild, theatre simple and Seattle Shakespeare Festival (now Company). EVENING PRIMROSE, the 1966 made-for-television Stephen Sondheim musical about a secret society of people living in department stores, will make its first appearance onstage on October 25, in a performance benefitting the St. George's Anglo-American Cultural Awards. The star-studded cast will include Candice Bergen, John McMartin, Sean Palmer, Bill Duell, John Windsor Cunningham, Carmen de Lavallade, Frederic Franklin, and Sondra Lee. The rest of the cast has yet to be announced.

The Town Hall's critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year's®10th Anniversary Season presented The Broadway Musicals of 1966, a year that brought us iconic shows such as, Cabaret, Mame, I Do! I Do!, Sweet Charity and The Apple Tree, last night, May 10. Overflowing with famous songs from major hit shows, the evening featured more dance numbers than any other Town Hall Broadway by the Year® concert this season. The evening was directed, choreographed and starred Jeffry Denman (who will be going to Broadway next season with this year's Off-Broadway hit musical, Yank!, which he also choreographed).

Everyman Theatre's Baltimore will close the 09/10 season with the premiere of Blackbird, Examines the Boundaries of Love, May 12 through June 13. Totem Pole Playhouse is proud to welcome back to the Playhouse, John Putch, to direct the hilarious Neil Simon comedy, 45 Seconds From Broadway, opening in June 2010. John Putch began his professional career at the age of five, performing in the Totem Pole Playhouse production of Showboat in 1966.

Thankfully director David Lee is giving us a presentation of Forum @ Reprise based on the 1972 Broadway revival. Why? Because it includes 2 delightful songs not in the original 1962 New York production: 'Farewell' and 'Echo Song'. These 2 numbers add that extra special touch to Lee's dynamically directed version, which puts the s in silly and could not possibly get any better.
