Noel Coward's popular play Private Lives currently on stage at American Players Theatre might be ripped from modern entertainment headlines. These scenes of two recently divorced spouses reconnecting for a romantic tryst could be versions of Duchess Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew living unmarried under one roof (after their long ago divorce) and wishing for royal approval to remarry. Or perchance reminiscent of Gyweneth Paltrow and Coldplay's Chris Martin separating and naming their split a "conscious uncoupling," Coward's 1930 production appears more believable decades later, continually relevant for contemporary audiences.

Pandora Productions has been presenting plays and musicals that speak to the LGBTQ community for over 20 years but in the 2015-2016 season she will step outside the comfortable 'box' to present a Tony award winning musical by a gay composer but without the usual LBGTQ themes. Stephen Sondheim's PASSION opens the season in September.

Today in 1975, Private Lives opened at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rogers Theatre), where it ran for 92 performances. Private Lives is a 1930 comedy of manners in three acts by Noel Coward. It focuses on a divorced couple who discover that they are honeymooning with their new spouses in neighbouring rooms at the same hotel. Despite a perpetually stormy relationship, they realise that they still have feelings for each other. Its second act love scene was nearly censored in Britain as too risque. Coward wrote one of his most popular songs, 'Some Day I'll Find You', for the play.

The latest show to grace the stage at the Walnut Street Theatre is No?l Coward's PRIVATE LIVES. Many have called this show Coward's finest and funniest romantic comedy. This comedy is about a divorced couple, Amanda and Elyot, who have remarried and are on their honeymoon with their new spouses in France. What is a surprise to them is that while they are on their honeymoon, they discover that they are staying in adjacent rooms at the same hotel. PRIVATE LIVES at the Walnut Street Theatre is full of sparkle and passion, and has a cast that will delight audience with their antics and liveliness.

Passion and intensity flow from historian, folklorist and musician Stephen Wade when he arrives at Milwaukee Rep's Stackner Cabaret this winter. On Sunday's opening night, Wade, as writer and performer, carries his work accomplished from more than two decades into this unique performance The Beautiful Music All Around Us. The New York Philharmonic has established an International Advisory Board (IAB) to develop relationships beyond the United States in order to support the Philharmonic's activities abroad, including regular Philharmonic residencies, educational and entrepreneurial projects, and the launch of the newly formed New York Philharmonic Global Academy. The International Advisory Board will serve as an international network of advocates and ambassadors who will connect with individuals and institutions in their home cities and countries to cultivate the Philharmonic's long-term reach and influence worldwide. IAB members will work with the Philharmonic to secure engagements, activities, and funding sources in a variety of international locations.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company announces its 2014-2015 ReDiscovery Series with a selection of five plays by significant women playwrights of the early 20th Century, directed by local D.C. directors. The first reading to kick off the series will be Chains of Dew by Susan Glaspell, directed by Holly Twyford, on Monday, September 15.

In the "intimate" comedy at Sturgeon Bay's "intimate" Third Avenue Playhouse, Stage Door Theatre Company presents Noel Coward's cheeky comedy from the 1930's Private Lives. In one of Coward's most successful plays, two previously married spouses meet on their respective honeymoons with their now younger partners at a French resort after remarrying.
