Passion - 2003 - Regional (US) History , Info & More

Based on the film Passione d'Amore directed by Ettore Scola

Based on the novel Fosca by I. U. Tarchetti

PASSION, winner of 4 Tony Awards including Best Music and Lyrics, Best Book, and Best Musical, features music and lyrics by the acclaimed Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, Company, Follies, Into The Woods, Gypsy) and book by James Lapine (Falsettos, Into The Woods, Sunday In The Park With George).

PASSION opened on Broadway in 1994, and received its London revival in 2010 at the Donmar Warehouse as part of Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday celebrations.

Stephen Sondheim's PASSION revolves around a handsome Italian solider, Giorgio, separated from his beautiful mistress, who is shattered and ultimately changed by the unconditional and obsessive love of Fosca, his Colonel's chronically ill and plain cousin. Her unrelenting passions force him to re-evaluate his beliefs about love and attraction between two human beings.

by Robert Diamond - Nov 15, 2015

The novel is a humorous account of a man with a quirkand the extraordinary measures his colleagues take to combat it. Set in a small town in northern India, this story follows Coinman, his peculiar habit, and the incredible animosity it provokes in everyone around him. He just wants to do his clerk's job with colleagues who'll treat him fairly. He just wants a wife who'll treat him like a husband. He just wants a happy home life. Instead, what does he get? His colleagues are planning his complete destruction. His wife is an obsessed actress more than a little "off plumb." And there are enough shadows and secrets in his home for two lifetimes. Can Coinman ever get what he wants? Or will that cost him his sanity? The book is available for sale in digital format at kindle and paperback at amazon (at the below link). amzn.to/1QbKkp5 'I was quite captivated by storytelling since my very early childhood. A few in my circle of friends read my writings and often challenged my creativity with a topic that might be 'boring': a chair, a mosquito, a car repair shop; and I would take it upon myself to write a story. I started writing 'Coinman: An Untold Conspiracy' in early 2003, at Bangalore in India, after a good acquaintance of mine challenged me to write a short story about someone's peculiar habit of jingling coins in his pocket. As I began writing, I discovered that the topic needed more elaborate treatment. I finished the book in 2007 but had no plans to publish it. Early this year, I decided to dedicate time on the weekends to get the novel published.' About Pawan Mishra: Pawan Mishra is a leader in the technology and finance industries. He completed his education, including postgraduate work, at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), India, in 1999.
