Gallery Players announces its first show of its 50th season with the award-winning show, Gypsy. Featuring a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Gypsy is a show not just for 'Some People' but for everyone. 

Virginia's Tony-Award winning Signature Theatre presents the world premiere of The Gulf by DC playwright Audrey Cefaly. Directed by Signature's Director of New Works Joe Calarco (Signature Theatre's The Flick, Gypsy), The Gulfcontinues Signature Theatre's commitment to producing regional and local premieres of important new plays. The production stars Maria Rizzo (Signature's Gypsy, West Side Story) and Rachel Zampelli (Signature's The Fix, Dying City), and runs September 13 - November 6 in Signature Theatre's intimate ARK Theatre.

Now, Valley Performing Arts Center will kick-off the new season and its Broadway series on September 30 at 8:00pm with a one night only concert performance of Dear World, starring Tony and Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly in the role of Countess Aurelia.

?Award winning singer/ dancer/choreographer Paula Abdul has been named the honoree for the Professional Dancers Society's (PDS) annual Gypsy Awards Luncheon, it was announced by PDS President, Mitzi Gaynor and PDS Board Chairman, Joni Berry.  Ms. Abdul will be honored on Sunday, April 24th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel (9876 Wilshire Blvd.) and famed choreographers Carl Jablonski and Kevin Carlisle will receive PDS Choreography Awards, for their extraordinary contribution to dance.  In a special tribute, legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke will receive The Dance Legacy Award.

Everything's coming up roses as Riverdale Repertory Company and Riverdale Rising Stars join forces to present one of the greatest Broadway musicals of all time: GYPSY.  This production will be performed for five performances only:

There are two nights of great live music at the 1200 Club inside the Holland Performing Arts Center in March: Omaha musician Matt Whipkey will play his celebrated concept album, Penny Park: Omaha, NE: 1989, in its entirety with special guest Rothsteen on Friday, March 4. The following night, March 5, mesmerizing French vocalist Cyrille Aime?e will perform a mix of American standards and gypsy jazz, with touches of Brazilian and French pop. Nashville actor and NFL Hall of Famer Eddie George, who makes his Broadway debut Tuesday night in the iconic musical Chicago, was named First Night's Outstanding Leading Actor in a Play for his searing portrayal of a former slave haunted by the spectre of abuse in Nashville Repertory Theatre's The Whipping Man. Rene Dunshee Copeland, producing artistic director of Nashville Rep, was named Outstanding Director of a Play, while her three-actor ensemble (which included James Rudolph and Matthew Rosenbaum) were awarded as First Night's Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Play for their rendition of the Matthew Lopez play.

With the critically acclaimed Show Boat currently running in the Crucible, and Partus and A Raisin in the Sun in rehearsals, Sheffield Theatres' Artistic Director Daniel Evans announces the full casts for the forthcoming productions of Waiting For Godot and the world premiere of Richard Bean's comedy thriller The Nap, both at the Crucible this spring.

Broadway's best will take the stage to celebrate six weeks of intensive fundraising efforts at the 27th Annual Gypsy of the Year Competition on Monday, December 7 (4:30 PM) and Tuesday, December 8 (2 PM) at the New Amsterdam Theatre (214 West 42nd Street, NYC), BroadwayWorld has just learned. Il Trovatore returns to the Met September 25, starring Anna Netrebko as the heroine Leonora in her long-awaited Met role debut. Dolora Zajick sings her signature role of the mysterious gypsy Azucena, with Yonghoon Lee as Manrico, Dmitri Hvorostovsky as Manrico's rival Count di Luna, and Štefan Kocán as Ferrando. In later performances, Angela Meade stars as Leonora, Marcello Giordani sings Manrico, Vitaliy Bilyy sings Count di Luna, and Kwangchul Youn sings Ferrando. Zajick and Hvorostovsky reprise their roles with Marco Armiliato leading all performances of David McVicar's 2009 production at the Met this season. The October 3 performance of Il Trovatore will launch the tenth season of the Met's Live in HD series when it is transmitted to more than 2,000 movie theaters in 70 countries around the world.

Celebrated composer and Balkan rock star Goran Bregovic will bring his raucous Balkan Party to Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) for one night only on Friday 19 February 2016.
