As previously announced, Tony Award-winner Joanna Gleason will revisit Nick and Nora in a reunion concert presented by Feinstein's/54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club. She will be joined by her original co-star, Tony Award winner Barry Bostwick (The Robber Bridegroom, Grease, The Rocky Horror Picture Show).
Feinstein's/54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Nick and Nora: In Concert. Produced and Directed by Steven Carl McCasland (Onward Victoria, Charlie and Algernon, Eating Raoul), the short-lived musical by Arthur Laurents, Richard Maltby, Jr., and Charles Strouse will sing again at the famed venue on Tuesday, May 2nd at 7:00 and 9:30PM.
There may only be a few remaining performances of Lyric Stage's ANYTHING GOES, but there's still plenty to see and hear before the ship sails beyond closing night this Sunday. The show (which features a cast of 37 actors and an astounding 33-piece orchestra) appears as a never-before-seen edit, written exclusively for Lyric Stage by musical director and conductor Jay Dias. With over three hours of old fashioned musical theatre comedy on stage, there's surely something to please the whole family in this lavish, timeless tale.
Although it has been revived in New York three times - twice on Broadway and once Off-Broadway - and is frequently produced by community and school groups, ANYTHING GOES has not been seen in its original form since it closed on Broadway in 1935. The original 1934 version of ANYTHING GOES will set sail at Lyric Stage June 17-26, 2016 in the Irving Arts Center's Carpenter Performance Hall. After seeing the new INTO THE WOODS movie twice over the holidays, I posted on Twitter about how two of the songs had stuck with me. After a tweet conversation, my BWW colleague Jeff Walker and I decided to put our heads together to try and come up with a list of Sondheim's most hummable tunes. Despite not discussing it beforehand, Jeff ended up picking songs from the 1960s and 70s, and I filled in the gaps with numbers from the 80s and 90s.

On the first program, July 2-3, 2014, titled 'Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Friends,' the New York Philharmonic will perform Shostakovich's Festive Overture; Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1, with pianist Joyce Yang as soloist; Musorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain; Rachmaninoff's arrangement of his own Vocalise; and Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker, and Marche slave. The second program, July 4-6, 2014, titled 'Star-Spangled Celebration,' will feature the New York Philharmonic and United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps - 'The Commandant's Own,' which is celebrating its 80th-anniversary year - in a program that includes Copland's Clarinet Concerto, with Associate Principal Clarinet Mark Nuccio as soloist, and Fanfare for the Common Man; Gershwin's 'Strike Up the Band' from Strike Up the Band; Sousa marches; and more. In these performances Major Brian Dix, director and commanding officer of 'The Commandant's Own,' will share conducting duties with Bramwell Tovey.

Performers scheduled to appear in the entertainment, which will serve as the centerpiece of Lincoln Center Theater's Annual Benefit and which will be directed by Bartlett Sher, are Victoria Clark, Stephen Colbert, David Garrison, Malcolm Gets, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Byron Jennings, Kelli O'Hara, Steven Pasquale, and Lewis J. Stadlen.
The Cleveland Orchestra and the Lakewood community are joining together to present The Cleveland Orchestra at home in Lakewood, a neighborhood residency that began on February 17, 2014, when Cleveland Orchestra Assistant Conductor Brett Mitchell visited the Lakewood High School Chamber Orchestra to assist in preparation for an Ohio Music Educators Association State Ensemble Adjudicated Event. The four-month residency of educational programs and performances for all ages culminates in an intensive week of free events from May 17-24, 2014. The centerpiece of the Orchestra's activities in Lakewood will be a public Cleveland Orchestra concert led by Music Director Franz Welser-Most at Lakewood Civic Auditorium on Saturday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. A delayed broadcast of the concert will be presented by WVIZ/PBS ideastream, and a live broadcast of the concert will air on WCLV 104.9 ideastream. Tickets will be distributed throughout Lakewood beginning on Saturday, April 26. (See list of distribution locations below.) The television broadcast will feature a composite of community collaborations, musical performances, and joint events and activities throughout Lakewood.
