Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC), a program of the Northwestern Settlement, presents its company premiere of Oliver Emanuel's adaptation of The Adventures of Robin Hood from October 19 to November 24, 2018 (press opening Oct. 20) at the Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble Street. Physical theater expert Adrian Danzig returns to ASC to direct, following his acclaimed 2011 ASC production of 500 Clown Trapped.

Great Performances presents more of the Great White Way's brightest stars with a new "Broadway's Best" lineup premiering Fridays, November 2-23 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). Returning for a second year, this fall's lineup includes the beloved musicals "An American in Paris The Musical" and Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The Sound of Music," as well as documentaries about the making of John Leguizamo's Tony-nominated play "Latin History for Morons" and 21-time Tony-winning director and producer Harold Prince. All programs will be available to stream the following day via pbs.org/gperf and PBS apps.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival will present a new production of The Sound of Music beginning November 15, 2018, directed by ASF Artistic Director Rick Dildine. The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, and book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse (suggested by "The Trapp Family Singers" by Maria Augusta Trapp.)

ABC celebrates the most wonderful time of the year with special '25 Days of Christmas' programming starting Dec. 1. The network joins Freeform, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior in this fan-favorite TV event. The 'Kickoff to Christmas' begins in late November with perennial holiday treat 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town.' The month of December is filled with special Christmas-themed episodes, the return of 'The Great Christmas Light Fight' and 'The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition,' and timeless animated classics and holiday films. The Best of Broadway presented by Planet Fitness series announced the shows for the 2018-2019 season today. The series' 20th anniversary season will welcome six shows including the return of Les Miserables (October 16-21, 2018), back by popular demand after a successful engagement in 2013. The season also includes Something Rotten! (November 12 & 13, 2018); Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I (December 4 & 5, 2018); The Sound of Music (March 12 & 13, 2019); Finding Neverland (April 2 & 3, 2019); and the highly-anticipated return of Jersey Boys (May 7 & 8, 2019). Purely breathtaking and nostalgic, it, of course, features favorite and familiar musical numbers such as "My Favorite Things," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Edelweiss," and "The Sound of Music," just to name of few.
