Signature Theatre has announced the cast of Elmer Gantry, a musical version of Sinclair Lewis' best-selling novel, directed by Signature's Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Follies, Million Dollar Quartet). Schaeffer collaborated on the last production of Elmer Gantry at Marriott's Lincolnshire Theatre in Chicago with authors John Bishop (book), Mel Marvin (music) and Bob Satuloff (lyrics) in 1998; the show has not been produced since then. This will be the 5th production in the show's history. Running in the MAX Theatre October 7 - November 9, Signature's production will include several brand new songs by Mel Marvin and Bob Satuloff and a reimagined script that John Bishop worked on until his death in 2006.

The State Theatre Center for the Arts, Easton, PA, announces its 88th Season. Tickets for the new season will go on sale to State Theatre Members on Thursday, August 5th, to the public on Tuesday, August 19th.

Disney Theatrical Productions celebrates the announcement of two world premiere productions of THE LION KING at Shanghai Disney Resort and Mexico City, in partnership with Disney Parks and Resorts and OCESA, respectively. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.

In celebration of ten years of creating and licensing shows for young performers, Disney Theatrical Productions announced today that it is adding school versions of The Lion King to Music Theatre International's (MTI) Broadway Junior Collection planned for distribution in January 2015. The Lion King JR. (a 60-minute musical for middle-school students) and The Lion King KIDS (a 30-minute musical for elementary-school students) will be licensed exclusively to accredited elementary and middle schools. Each school license will include a full array of companion materials to aid teachers and students in learning about stagecraft and performance. This opportunity marks the first time any long-running hit musical has released a specially-created version for elementary and middle school students while the original show was still playing on Broadway.

NBC will celebrate the lighting of the world's most famous Christmas tree with a live broadcast from Rockefeller Center in New York City tonight, Dec. 4 (8-9 p.m. ET). Garret Storms will make his WaterTower Theatre debut as David (Crumpet the Elf) in the David Sedaris holiday season comedy The Santaland Diaries, December 13 to 29, 2013, in the Studio Theatre at the Addison Theatre and Conference Centre. Kelsey Ervi, Assistant to the Producing Artistic Director at WaterTower Theatre, directs.
