This book charts his journey from a poor boy from New Mexico, starting his radio career at a tiny country music radio station, and ending up at KFRC San Francisco, Billboard Station of the Year 1975, 1976, 1977 and 1978. Flanagan was Billboard Jock of the Year finalist 1978, the highest award in radio. KFRC was a 2.9 radio station when the author arrived from Phoenix on September 1973. From a 9 A.M. to noon jock, Flanagan went into the 8's, 8.7, 8.5, 8.7, 8.9 consistently. When he was moved to afternoons on 1975, he went into the 9's, reaching 9.4 in afternoons, a shift that had never been successful at KFRC.
