Producer Scott Rudin announced today that the Broadway production of William Shakespeare's King Lear, will play its final performance on Sunday, June 9, 2019. King Lear began previews on Thursday, February 28, 2019 and opened on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street). At the time of its closing, it will have played 34 preview performances and 76 regular performances.

Performances have begun for the world premiere of Lucas Hnath's "Dana H." at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in a co-production with Goodman Theatre. Adapted from interviews with Dana Higginbotham, conducted by Steve Cosson, directed by Les Waters and featuring Deirdre O'Connell in the title role, "Dana H." will open on June 2 and continue through June 23, 2019.

The Wallis Studio Ensemble's latest production THE HITCH-HIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY will open at The Wallis June 6, 2019. What I Never Told You, a play from Mexico by Paus Marr n and translated by Marr n and Amy Argyle, has been announced for the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival. The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Amy Argyle, Hays McEachern, Liliana Montenegro, and Mike Tarnofsky. Under the direction of Rita Cofield, there will be five performances at the Dorie Theatre at The Complex Friday 6/7 at 8:30pm; Saturday 6/15 at 12pm; Thursday 6/20 at 6:30pm; Sunday 6/23 at 2:30pm; and Saturday 6/29 at 2pm. Running time will be 75 minutes.

The League of American Orchestras announced today that Jesse Rosen, President and CEO of the League of American Orchestras, has extended his contract through September 2020, at which time he will retire from the League.    'By September 2020, I will have been at the League for twenty-two years and CEO for twelve,' Rosen said in his remarks to delegates during the League's 74th National Conference in Nashville. 'I've had an enormously fulfilling experience, but it's time to begin thinking about the next chapter. The orchestra community has been a source of deep satisfaction and joy, and I'd like to remain a part of it in some new and different way.'

He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh, and the intrigues of political power. When I last saw Pippin, it was a circus at DPAC back in 2015. Now through June 16th, Raleigh Little Theatre is presenting their own production of the 1973 Tony-winning musical, and it could not be more different.
