Mirus Promotions, Inc., a boutique field marketing agency located in San Diego, is part of 7-Eleven's new emerging brands test, supporting the launch of almost 100 better-for-you food and beverage items in 125 Los Angeles-area stores. In-store tastings will be conducted to provide a positive, engaging force to raise both awareness and sales for this program's brands. 'It's an honor and a great opportunity to partner with 7-Eleven to introduce customers to their new healthier-for-you emerging brand and product offerings,' said Mirus Promotions founder and CEO, Julie Seal-Gaustad. 'Our passion is to help build brands and brand loyalty, so partnering with 7-Eleven to maintain their reputation as the innovator in the convenience marketplace, as well as supporting emerging brands and educating consumers about healthier options available in stores is an exciting opportunity for us!' According to PRNewswire, the products of this program were hand-selected by 7-Eleven from 31 up-and-coming companies. "When our emerging brands team created this unique product assortment in collaboration with our category managers, the goal was to give customers drinks and snacks that they might not expect to find at a 7-Eleven store," said 7-Eleven vice president of new business development, Chris Harkness. "Customers are demanding healthier options, and we know LA customers are leading the country in health and wellness trends, always willing to try the newest and most innovative products and services. In the past, 7-Eleven's LA stores have shown great success with food and beverages on the leading edge of these trends." The selected snacks and beverages have a wide variety of healthy claims and certifications, including keto, paleo, vegan, organic, high-protein, low-glycemic, gluten-free, nutrient-dense, plant-based, and cold-pressed. 'Being the target consumer myself for this new better-for-you line of on-the-go snacks and beverages, I was immediately on board and wanted to be part of the launch and movement,' said Seal-Gaustad. 'I knew my internal team would love it and our ambassadors in Los Angeles would align really well with the goals of the program and be consumers themselves, too.' The products were installed in the 125 store locations as of May 11th and can be found on an end-aisle display and inside the open-air cold case. Activations, i.e. in-store samplings, are expected to commence mid-June and continue for about two months. The goal of these activations, serviced through Mirus Promotions, is to actively engage consumers at vital points of contact within the stores to promote products through positive and educational experiences. In addition to immediate and direct sales, these samplings are intended to encourage ongoing, recurring sales lasting beyond the program duration by converting target consumers into brand loyalists. 'Having our trained brand ambassadors in stores to directly engage and educate 7-Eleven shoppers will be integral to the success and growth of the product sets and the brands,' said Seal-Gaustad. The emerging brands items that can be found within these stores include Brew Dr. Kombucha, ROAR Organic, Bobo's Oat Bars, Shroom Bars, Brain Juice, and Buff Bake, to name a few. 'We are eager to see how these brands perform on our shelves and look forward to hearing directly from customers about these new items in the assortment,' Harkness said. Mirus Promotions' internal team is gearing up for the upcoming activations with enthusiasm and anticipation for what's to come.

With the roar of a motorcycle, '60 pop chanteuses The Shangri-Las introduced the world to a new tragic hero, the unforgettable bad boy heartthrob and the titular “Leader Of The Pack.” The year was 1964 and by that time “teenage tragedy songs” had become a genre unto itself with the likes of Jan & Dean's “Dead Mean's Curve,” Ray Peterson's “Tell Laura I Love Her” and many others. But none captured the melodrama of heartbreak as well as “Leader Of The Pack,” which would become a #1 pop hit and the defining song for The Shangri-Las. Now, two veterans of garage rock, trailblazing heartthrobs in their own right, have teamed up for a glorious new version of the tune. Famed Stooges guitarist James Williamson pours gasoline on the song's instrumental track and lights it on fire with his raw, heavy guitar playing, while Runaways vocalist Cherie Currie, aided with backup vocals by Leslie Koch Foumberg, amps up the theatricality for maximum emotional impact.

There's an unmistakeable sound of thunder emanating from the Ogunquit Playhouse these days, commencing with the rhythmic pounding of nearly two dozen pairs of feet, and ending in a crescendo of audience applause. It is not fulsome praise to give DirectorChoreographer Randy Skinner multiple huzzahs and many pats on the back for this fresh and exciting production of 42ND STREET the iconic show-biz musical about a small town girl who pursues her dream and takes Broadway by storm. From the grownups to the kids in the chorus, Tony Award-nominee Skinner seamlessly blends stage veterans and non-Equity performers into one sparkling, magical troupe that really knows how to put on a show.

The roar of the audience's appreciation at the curtain call still rings loudly in my ear. Although I alternated between laughing and crying while watching the national tour of COME FROM AWAY at the Adrienne Arsht Center, what I remember feeling once the curtain came down was joy. I may have discovered for myself why this show is such a hit on Broadway and on tour because while it talks about a challenging time in our history, it also reminds us of how kind people were in the aftermath of 911. (Something that feels lacking in our current political climate.) It is easy to be kind to those you love, but the unquestionable kindness people can have for strangers - inspires. COME FROM AWAY is a story we need to keep telling. It's a story we should continue to tell to remind us that people can and should genuinely care for one another even and especially when they have nothing to gain.

This Christmas, Camden People's Theatre will host its first ever Christmas commission with Sh!t Actually (3 21 Dec), a playfully sideways look at Sh!t Theatre's guilty pleasure: the much-loved (and definitely problematic) festive favourite Love Actually. Co-commissioned with HOME Manchester, Sh!t Actually is a live action, two-woman reimagining of one of the most contentious Christmas films of all time. Fusing live songs with queer love stories in a version that gives women, and not just Emma Thompson, actual lines to ask if in 2019 we can still love it, actually. Alongside Sh!t Actually, Camden People's Theatre's alternative Christmas offering includes SheGoat's The Undefinable (10 21 Dec), exploring unconventional relationships and celebrating the unusual and underrepresented qualities of love.

Remarkably, it's been 40 years since legendary rock band The Who performed at Wembley Stadium, back then sharing the stage with the likes of The Stranglers and ACDC. This weekend's return - featuring a line-up of four support acts - felt like something of a homecoming festival for the band, made all the more grandiose an occasion with the addition of an orchestra for the headliners' set. With the very recent loss of Pete Townshend's guitar technician Alan Rogan, it was also a chance to honour his long-term involvement with the band and to celebrate life.

Toadies have enlisted Steve Albini to record their eighth studio album, the session scheduled for early 2020 in Chicago. Bassist Doni Blair refers to Albini as a “bucket list producer.” Guitarist Clark Vogeler adds “There are records in each of our collections that were recorded by him which mean the world to us.  The sound he brought to records likeThe Pixies' Surfer Rosa, and PJ Harvey's Rid of Me, capture the feeling of being in a room with a band while they play (quite loudly, it would appear).  A personal fave, Wedding Present'sSeamonsters saved me in a way that no other record has.  The emotion of the songs just pours out of the speakers.  His recordings of bands are honest; there's not much in the way of Pro Tools fixing (he records to tape) or studio trickery (no autotune in sight!).  It's mostly just a band in a room with microphones, playing the songs, and that appeals to us at this point.  We've always felt like we could deliver live, so why not record the band live?”

Part one: The Hellfire Squad successfully premiered in 2016 and told the tale of Micheal Collins' assassins. They are currently working on their final installment, The Folklore Commission.
