Kazuo Ueno Discusses New Theory of Light in Book

Every art historian nowadays (except Kazuo Ueno) dismisses Johannes Vermeer's hidden influence on Christiaan Huygens regarded as the most powerful light physics and astronomy researcher in the 17th Century. According to Ueno, unlike Anton van Leeuwenhoek's close relation to Vermeer, the role of light in both science and art in Vermeer's paintings was never recognized by anybody. He believes that Christiaan Huygens' influence was entirely neglected in the context of Vermeer's work even though Huygens is a scientist and so is Vermeer.

'From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic an Iron Curtain has descended across the Continent.' This famous line was from former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in a speech at Fulton, Missouri, US, on March 5, 1946. This political, military and ideological barrier was created by the Soviet Union to seal off itself and its satellites from contact with the West. In 1980, author Maurice Nachtigal, a physician, managed to break away from the Iron Curtain and resume his life on the other side of it, in the United States. He reveals his remarkable story in 'An Iron Curtain Breakaway.'
