BroadwayWorld Congratulates Angela Lansbury, 2009 Tony Award Winner, 'Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play'

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, proudly announces the sixth and final production of its upcoming 2009/2010 Season, as well as additional casting. Presented at the theater company's home at 416 West 42nd Street, the new production will be: A COOL DIP IN THE BARREN SAHARAN CRICK - the World Premiere of a new play by Playwrights Horizons alumna Kia Corthron (Breath, Boom at Playwrights Horizons, Force Continuum), directed by Obie Award winner Chay Yew (Durango at The Public). A co-production with The Play Company (Kate Loewald, Founding Producer) and Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director).

Sean Mathias is to direct Anna Friel as Holly Golightly and Joseph Cross as William ?Fred' Parsons in Samuel Adamson's new stage adaptation of Truman Capote's classic novella Breakfast at Tiffany's, currently in its 50th anniversary year.

Strawdog Theatre Company of Chicago announces their 22nd anniversary season of presenting 'the whole wide world in a little black box,' with the three mainstage plays focusing on the theme of 'why we fight': the Midwest premiere of Matt Pepper's 'St. Crispin's Day,' David Harrower's translation of Bertolt Brecht's 'Good Soul of Szechuan,' and Curt Columbus' translation of Anton Chekhov's 'Uncle Vanya.' The shows run Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 7 p.m.

Lipuma announce the World Premiere of A Minister's Wife, a new musical adapted from George Bernard Shaw's Candida, conceived and directed by Michael Halberstam with musical direction by Richard Casey. A Minister's Wife was adapted by Austin Pendleton with music by Joshua Schmidt and lyrics by Jan Tranen.

Two countries, three generations, 22 turbulent years?and a dynamic soundtrack ranging from Syd Barrett to The Plastic People of the Universe to U2?are at the heart of Rock 'n' Roll, a sweeping and passionate drama about love, music and revolution from Academy Award and four-time Tony Award-winner Tom Stoppard. For the play?s Chicago premiere at Goodman Theatre, Artistic Director Robert Falls taps director Charles Newell, whose reputation for directing acclaimed Stoppard productions precedes him. Newell?s cast of 12 is led by Stephen Yoakam and Chicago favorites Timothy Edward Kane and Mary Beth Fisher, who explore the unique intersection of politics and art against the background of John Culbert?s rock concert-inspired set design?complete with a floor resembling the cover art of Barrett?s solo album, Madcap Laughs. Hugh Jackman, has 'revealed' to Sydney's Daily Telegraph that he is indeed working to 'reappear' on Broadway in the original musical, HOUDINI in the spring of 2010.

Hamingson) announced today that it would extend Tracey Scott Wilson?s THE GOOD NEGRO an additional two weeks through Sunday, April 19. THE GOOD NEGRO begins previews on Tuesday, March 3 and will now run through Sunday, April 19 with an official press opening on Monday, March 16. Directed by Liesl Tommy and in association with Dallas Theater Center, THE GOOD NEGRO is the first new play to transfer from the Public LAB initiative to a full main stage production at The Public.
